So I'm trying to find out in what floors the alchemy orbs drop in the arcade. Something like, floors 1-10 drop 1* alchemy orbs, floors 11-15 drop 2* alchemy orbs....... and so on. Also, does the difficulty slider change the drop rate or what orbs drop or what? I'm basically trying to make a map of what floors i need to go to to get specific orbs.
Alchemy Orb Locations and difficulty differences
I find that 1 star orbs tend to drop from depth 1-4, 1 and 2 star orbs from 4-7, 2 and 3 star orbs from 8-13, 3-4 star orbs from 13-17. Anything beyond that is 4-5 star orbs. But I did find a 3 star orb on depth 5ish before the orb droprate fix. Higher difficulty increases cr payout and rarity droprates(check patch notes, not sure)
Just checked, higher difficulty is higher droprate.
So the difficulty slider does or doesn't effect drop rate? Does it effect what star number of orbs drops? Anyone else have a map of their own to share? Thanks for you map Blitz!
Eternal orbs of alchemy drop anywhere in the entirity of T3. I've found them at depth 19, so they're 19-28.
Elite orbs of alchemy can be found at D19, but seem more rare then eternals. They can also be found in stratum 4.
Advanced orbs of alchemy can be found in all of T2, I'm fairly sure. I've found them as early as depth 10, and I think you can find them even all the way to depth 17.
Basically, let's assign a star rating to a stratum, with stratum 1 being 0* and stratum 6 being 5*.
Every stratum has a small chance to drop an alchemy orb of its own star rating and a larger chance to drop an orb of the next star rating. Since there are no 0* orbs, I think that means you can only find 1* orbs in stratum 1. Also, stratum 6 has obscene droprates for 5* orbs seeing how there aren't any 6* orbs.
As a general rule of thumb, you should go to the stratum with the same number as the orb you would like to find. If you desire 3* alchemy orbs, go look in stratum 3. With crystals, it gets iffier, and they seem to lag a couple of depths behind orb drops.
Keep in mind this is speculation based on observation and not to be taken as hard data.
Cool. That seems easy enough. Thanks for that Zeddy! Just to confirm, what does the difficulty slider effect? Is it just the drop rate? I have seen too many different answers on this throughout the forums.
It slightly increases droprate of things, far as I can tell. I rarely don't play Elite so wouldn't know.
To be more precise; The difficulty slider effects a few things. First of all, the AI's do more damage, traps (such as spikes) do more damage, and the AI gets faster. You also receive less health drops in higher difficulties...
HOWEVER, in higher difficulties, the drop rates are significantly increased. In Normal mode, you're pretty much expected to go the whole run with only Crown drops. In advanced you can expect some heat, a couple Sparks of Life, and on excruciatingly rare cases an orb. On Elite mode, you can expect lots of heat drops, maybe 3 or 4 Sparks of Life, and on rare cases an orb.
This is just what to EXPECT. The game is still randomized and it is still all varied, but the general rule is that running on Elite is very much so worth the extra difficulty. I tend to refuse to join a party if it's not on Elite, just because the difference in drop rates from Advanced to Elite is that significant.
At least, from my experience that is.
I got 3 3* Orbs from doing the Snarby Mission over and over on advanced and elite! Imagine if you did this with JK or Vana!
From what I've seen, the differences between the three difficulties aren't actually that significant, with the only changes I've seen being how often Sparks drop and enemy Health. I haven't seen an Orb of any kind drop.
/reply Dibsville: I've had Heat and Fire thingy drops on Normal.
I guess my luck sucks because I have yet to find any orbs on any level at any difficulty
done a t2 run on elite, one of my teammates got a 5* orb. I guess 4* just has a very small chance to drop.
Difficulty does not affect any loot drop rate at all. Only vitapods and hearts exclusive.
