@Soulnfinity
I agree with you. I picked Seraphnyx, and most people do it because they think it's adorable, but I did it for skills. I think Drakon is more aesthetically pleasing in terms of cuteness, but Maskeraith is more aesthetically pleasing in terms of coolness. Serahpynx... I don't know what to say about Seraphynx, but I won't call Seraphynx ugly. I picked Seraphynx because I'm into divinity, and I'm in to debuffing mobs. I like to support my companions, and I like to give them hearts. I can give myself a small defense.
I plan on choosing Disintegration Ray, Iron Heart Attack, and Seraphic Aura.
@Merethif And for those who don't like drakon's beard that comes with scorching barrier ... eastern dragon
As ironic as it is Chinese dragons don't have wings so why are there even dragon wings accessories?
Personally at first I kinda disliked the look because I do prefer the western variants, but then I realised with the longer ears from Meteoric firebolt it looks pretty sweet together.
Except I chose Scorching at the start because I'm an offensive player who doesn't mind forgoing a speed boost EVEN THOUGH the ultimate appearance for Backfire Barrier complements the design of Meteoric Firebolt. (No spoilers for you guys :b)
@Ink-Incorporated and Angelic Aura. So you don't plan on upgrading your Angelic Aura into Seraphic or Valkyrian? :o
It looks as if that cat has been working out ALOT or either just fat =\
It's not actually fat, but the angle I took the screenshot from makes the arms LOOK like they made it fatter.
Well okay the arms are fatter...
I can't take that haunted haze mask seriously
also just how big are these expanded explosions
do you *have* to pick one of the ultimate skills for your first skill before your sprite can move on? i really don't want either the forehead tumor nor the antennas, and i wouldn't mind skipping the first-kill upgrade entirely if it meant i could skip the appearance change and move on to the second skill.
@Qwao
Well, it's called post-modernism. You're taking from different cultures and themes and mix&match various things to create new quality (VERY brief and inaccurate definition, but you get my point ;-) ). Generally my point was that:
a). It's better to be open-minded and creative, than sying: "I don't like beards because dragons in Skywim don't have beards". By being narrow-minded we will encourage game developers to make everything generic and dull. Like the recent change in SK icons - from unique and totally top-designed ones to generic cookie-cutters we have atm.
b). It's all about preferences. For example, personally, I LOVE Haunted Haze mask. It looks like some sort of voodoo mask - asymmetrical, primitive and disturbing. On the other hand I really dislike Chaotic Haze Mask - it's just very generic skull - and for that one trying too hard to be spooky (like those stuff for goth/emo schoolchildren, where people just put skull on, in order to make it scary/rebellious/antisocial/whatever).
Did OOO really think bug antennas and out of place arms fit on a cat? Why not change it's wings and add whiskers.
No let's turn a cat into a bug on steroids.
@Llan
What cat?!...
...unless you mean robotic drone (so called Battle Sprite) that have undergone strange transformation while exposed to Owlites' magic
As far as I know there's nothing wrong with such magically transformed robotic drones having antennas, overgrown arms, crystals stuck into forehead and whatnot. I'm not an expert when it comes to the effects that Owlite magic may have on robotic drones, so please enlighten me if I'm wrong.
now i know what skills to make my drakon learn maybe ill be the first with long ears, wings, and spikes?
zomg i would've had a heart attack if i saw those hideous arms on my maskyface. those are the kinds of arms that swipe children from their beds and bat fresh bbq out of your plate and onto the grass. its a shame that i was leaning towards virulent quills cuz it brought up sweet memories of corpse explosion from d2, but that is INTOLERABLE. i'd put a bag on my pet. ****ed up **** MAN. i was totally not leaning towards haunted haze but after seeing that empty goldfish face, i am fleeing in terror of it. trick NO TREAT.
caythanqsbuy.
@Bttrflii (omg what's with the name) EDIT: Actually you CAN.
@Maximumride Sorry, people beat ya to it.
@Klipik ????? I have no idea how to do that.
So Meteoric Fireball, Backfire Barrier, and Explosive Firestorm it is! I would have choose Scorching Barrier but I hate the beard. T_T Only if they were switched.
I won't mind the arms on my Drakon, but I want to know if Frenzied Firestorm is a good upgrade
No let's turn a cat into a bug on steroids.
Taken out of context, this is a great idea.
Everything's better on steroids.
/r Qwao: Do you have Steam installed? People can make "guides" on it to help players.
Seriously? arms? on a cat? on a dragon? on a whatever that maskeriath resembles? the maskeriath now has 4 arms, two of which come out of its ears, but I have a Seraphynx anyways. Hmm.. a gem in the head or antennas? that's one question I never thought I'd ask myself. The arms... I will take those as an early april fools joke, HAAAH OOO you got us! well played :D now go and get creative and FORGET BODYBUILDER ARMS ON A FLYING KITTEN 0_0 please. This post is full of sentences you'd never think you'd ever say. I'm actually OK with both tails, congratulations, 2 out of 18 of these things are actually acceptable..
I'm sorry if I'm too mad, but I have to tell you I will change ALL THREE of my ultimate skills to the one I didn't want to because I'm one of those people who when struggling between drakon and seraphynx went with seraphynx because it was "cute". Obviously, there's nothing but Arnold Schwarzenegger's arms I want growing out of its body...
Sorry, I love you OOO, but this is beyond sad, this is straight ridiculous. You can still say it was just a joke, and we will all just laugh about it.. please?
PS.: What you can read above is an Opinion, if yours is different from someone else's that's completely fine, don't need to be mad about it, but as far as this thread goes, it seems, well, not quite a lot of people are happy with most of these looks, and pretty much Everyone either changed their plans with ultimate skills or accepted that he/she will have ugly a** pets for ever. Great.
I still have faith in you, OOO, you can still fix this.
@Metemer
I don't mind people picking Seraphynx for aesthetics, but am I the only one who picked him for skills rater than looks?
Yes.
That's an educated guess, by the way.
@Gravelord-Caste I do have Steam but don't really use it for anything more than chatting with friends ._.
BUMP FOR BREAKING NEWS
Read OP!
btw I'm not saying that I chose seraphynx entirely because of it's looks, but after looking through the sprite skills, I only liked the drakon and the seraphynx, and I felt they were both equally good, so I took looks into account, and I chose cuteness over badassery :D
And by the way, after having some time spent with it, I'm happy I choose the seraphynx, healing is nice :) don't have the aura yet, but one person I met and had it said it's not very good :< though that might be off topic, sorry if it is.
Extra! Extra! READ ALL BOUT' IT
Get your fat cat! Get your fat cat! Get your fat cat HERE! (Antennaes and tails EACH SOLD SEPERATELY)
Why are there three avatars of the same knight?
/r Qwao Ah, OK. At least the OP has information regarding the pets (quite nice by the way. Very useful).
@Gravelord-Caste would be more helpful if people who have actual experience with level 100 pets etc posted more information. I mean I have a level 60 pet and I'm making a guide :P
Updating thread with some info on ultimates, please give information if possible.
@Merethif
Finally! I saw the Chinese dragon connection as soon as I heard about the beard. Everyone's hating on it... They all want a European/Classic dragon. I like how it looks. I've actually gotten attached to my little sprite, so I couldn't care less how he looked anyway.
One more thing about the pet food, feeding it 5* mats after 75, where the favored food becomes the star, gives really low heat. Or none at all. Fed it twice and I saw no increase in the heat bar.
Bump. Love this post Qwao! Thx and Thx again!!
Nice find, I was waiting for something like this so I could pick my ultimates (yes im basing it off looks).
There was an error where it said "Valkyrian Aura Maskeraith's ultimate skills"
Otherwise great work!
Fixed. Oops!
Updating thread to include information on base skills as well. Please provide information!
Really appreciate the thread Qwao, now if only I can figure out which sprite works better for a bomber, the Dragon or the Wraith <_>
So far i am looking at things this way
Dragon
Concussive blast can be really useful potentially due to it being long ranged but i like the idea of meteoric blast as well as the appearance for it.
The speed boost is probably my best bet for kiting considering i don't like being in melee range more than i need to.
Likely going with explosive firestorm due to the fact that Attack and attack speed doesn't really appeal to me as a bomber.
Wraith
Do the poison darts, actually inflict the poison status? If so i'd likely get the explosive upgrade for this one.
The cloak i'd probably have to go vengeful to make it useful at all given that you can't charge bombs under cloak.
The last one i'd likely do chaotic just cause status effects are always useful.
Pending on feedback it's a toss up for me between these two as they both have skills i can put to use for various situations.
The poison darts inflict poison upon impact, I think getting vengeful (the rebounding one) might be better for spreading the poison since the poison chance is on impact. The explosion radius is pretty small; about one block explosion radius so enemies have to be really close together. Also, the explosion is a chance and does not happen all the time, I think? I need to get more information, will update thread when it will.
The darts seem to have a extremely high chance of poison, if not 100%. The explosive upgrade is more for fighting smaller groups or solo mobs. The chaining quills is better for large groups. I would personally say explosive is better since each quill has a chance to explode instead of each shot (you might get all quills to go boom, or none, though it is most likely going to be only 1 or 2).
Cloak is great for just getting through a tough group or for getting to one specific mob (also good for drawing every single mob to your teammates, but thats just me). While vengeful cloak sounds good I dont think it will be good in practice. You will need to get closer to people before cloak disappears (if you are using cloak you are far away from people). I think that deadly will be more useful but I do not know yet as I have not seen it, it all depends on how long the bonuses last.
Im going chaotic as well as I have seen the other one and it was rather lackluster to say the least. Even if the chance to inflict statuses is low it will be fun to run through groups and get a couple people, frozen, shocked, and burnt.
@Wolfe Yes, they do have a high poison chance, but personally the explosion radius seems way too small that you might need a vortex to get it to work effectively. I'd go with vengeful if I had a maskeraith.
The buffs are actually removed upon the dissipation of cloak (deadly cloak), and a new 3-5seconds buff is given after deactivation of cloak.
I agree that haunted is really a disappointing choice in terms of utility. Chaotic haze sounds like it has the potential to be crazy- it's possessing every single status at your fingertips sans Sleep (for obvious reasons).
My Maskeraith is going to have arms for ears!! That's super dope.
At the moment, Haunted haze is completely useless as an upgrade. Ghosts will only spawn when the mob is killed by the haze (187 normal damage T3) and even then, the ghosts spawn do only 5 total damage at T3.
lookin forward to OOO fixing this.
This is awesome. I really like the idea, and the abilities are cool. But I agree, the Seraphynx designs could really use some more work. Overall, it looks kinda unfinished.
Glad to help (and thanks for the bump :P?)!
Still have 2 more ultimate skills to write information on.
Like the normal quills, except has a chance to make quills explode upon impact. The explosion is roughly the size of a 2* haze bomb, and poisons everyone within that radius. Each explosion deals 134 damage in T3. Hope that was a bit helpful, Qwao!
Its about 3-4 squares in yraining hall wide....ill try to find the vid. Onr sec
Ok, here is the ultimaate skillsblink.
http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=eyUjuDzbPgE
It kinda sucks for drakon's firebolt, but gives anbidea
Five damage per ghost in T3? Ow. I'm gonna get Haunted Haze anyway, that goofy mask is just too cute for me to not choose! Chaotic might be hazardous around Quicksilvers anyway, so I can live with a weak boost instead. I'm not looking forward to having to choose between awesome "tickle monster" ears and awesome Mutalisk-style quills, though. :(
Tazurin,
The Sera does get whiskers, they're just mounted in an unconventional place! Notice how it has a "chimeric mishmash" theme going on? The Drakon has no options for catfish-style barbels, because they were donated to the Sera. The other option for that skill is a third eye, which came from the Masker:
"You might wonder what she's thinking,
because it looks like she is winking..." ;)
@Voza-II That video is outdated, but I guess the meteoric firebolt is still the same.
@Venomousbiohazard Thanks!
I'm kind of lazy and busy to get footage of all skills in action and all that, I might do that this weekend, in addition to other sprite yada-yada things (even though it's been like 3 weeks since the patch...)
Thanks Qwao for such a helpful thread.
And I'm glad Haunted Haze mask is the one I like most out of three (even though I minority here).
As for the Quills I like both, so I'll go with Virulent ones probably. And I don't get why people don't like Maskeraith's arms - they look ghastly and creepy.
Only with Shadow Cloak I will have a dilemma - I'd like to get Vengeful for its ability, but Deadly provides more awesome horns...
And for those who don't like drakon's beard that comes with Scorching Barrier - check out Chinese dragons. That's what probably it meant to be. Personally I'd take eastern dragon over western one any day, and beard is a way better then any spikes in my book. But probably I'm minority here as well :-)
