I've been having a very odd bug recently where I've been getting stuck running in the same direction with no input response and major laggage despite a relatively stable connection. I most recently called a GM about this to get unstuck, and since I had died while stuck I asked if I could get a free ER. Hyperion was nice enough to give me a Spark of Life instead, and at this point I asked him why emergency revives didn't trigger an energy surge. I got this response via the support system:
"Thanks for the bug report! In answer to the question you asked, the emergency revive doesn't apply an energy surge because no energy is involved in it; it works the same way in that respect as reviving with health did."
So, there you have it. Emergency Revive is a replacement for having your friends help you. It's a terrible replacement, in my mind, and I have no idea why it was implemented since Sparks of Life are still rare outside of the folks who retroactively got zillions from mission rewards.
Doesn't matter if folks got "zillions from mission rewards" what matters is that they all doubled them from running (myself went from the 50ish from rewards to a total of 103 as of now and I run strictly Elite) so in the end if you can't handle the current difficulty setting, turn it down.
