I don't understand how a simple designed, low tiered set can be so popular.

Since I haven't heard of it until today, when I saw this particular set for the first time, I mistook it for some vague Christmas costume set that I somehow haven't seen around.

Maybe it's just like the Groundbreaker set, where you wearing it meant something. In this case, you were a beta tester.

But the Ignition set has no symbolism (is that right word to use at this time?) except to show that you play SK on a site I never heard of until today, just like the set itself.

So, what makes it so popular?

People are stupid. It's new and limited, and so are easily duped into grabbing a set just so they can have bragging rights.
