Yeah, Ive run low on them.
Ive got a ton of 4* stuff that im trying to get to 5*, but I cant level any of it without those crystals
Anyone know where I can even FIND them? I seem to be able to find all but the shining ones

I've been farming the mission
I've been farming the mission "In Cold Blood" on Elite difficulty. Typically I get around 20 of them. Sometimes i little more, sometimes a little less. Just make sure you're getting all the treasure boxes.

yeah, found that running the misions on elite is the best way to farm the crystals (just look at the mision reward to see if it drops the lvl of crystal you want)
for 5* be ready for a grindfest (if you don't want to loose them due to failed forging)

You know what's funny? I have the opposite problem. I am looking for Radiant fire crystals, and I find shining crystals instead. And if what Xandery said that you have a better chance of finding crystals with a party, then if you went solo, it all makes sense. When I go to do tier 3 in the clockworks, I leave my party open and set it to elite. Even with the problems with how the mats are dropped, I still leave it open. And I still get people who join me. I also find a decent amount of crystals as well. Just goes to show you that going in a party is still useful.

Going in a party doesn't affect drop rate. I can get 21 shining fire crystals soloing The Return of Ur and 15 while doing it in a party- it's all random luck. Also, remember loot are instanced. That one lamp you broke might have dropped 1 cr for you, yet for another it was 10cr. And those fire crystals you got? Someone else got a Spark of Life instead. The only thing that is shared now are minerals.

Tier 3 arcade pre-terminal
Tier 3 arcade pre-terminal runs. I get 30 - 40+ per pre-terminal run, sometimes 60 crystals if I hit up danger rooms.

Yeah, I know all the dangers of going with a party as well, but I simply don't care. I'm weird like that. But I like doing levels with a party, rather than alone. Unless I'm testing something out, or I'm doing a boss run, I like to go in a party. I You do meet people who are jerks, and if you are in a party where you are not the leader, it is even worse. But that is expected for any online game.

It's fast, quick, and fun...
I found the "Weight of Darkness" mission very rewarding with Shining Fire crystals.
All you do is go to the first level (candlestick keep) and rush it. You may have to fight waves of enemies eventually. Break all treasure boxes.

Its rediculous
I am on board with all the updates except this "forge" don't make the forge mandatory! if u have crystals and want to get a forge box then spend them but requiring me to find 30 radients to get upgrade my LEVEL 7 5* sword with 1/5 success rate is ridiculous! for 100% its 90 rads!
The best place I've found to get the rads is in a full group in the citadel, even then u only ever get about 7 but hey… its not like I'm complaining -__-

Rotting Metropolis
For farming shining crystals my favourite spot would be the rotting metropolis. Fast, short, and guaranteed to get some atleast 12。 Just bring elemental and shadow weapons with shadow/pierce armor 。
Takes around 20 minutes if things are going smooth.

Depths 17-22 can have Shining Fire Crystals in treasure blocks, especially 19-21. Depth 17 has a mix of 3* and 4*. Depth 22 a mix of 4* and 5*. In my limited experience with parties at those depths, I got a lot more fire crystals in a group than when solo. Treasure vault has the most potential, because it has the most treasure blocks. So look for a gate with treasure vault in 19-21, and check the party finder for one in elite mode. (Elite is said to have the best drop rate for everything.)
I've been having a lot of trouble getting more than a few of the Shining even when doing lots of levels. It seems like the drop rate of 3* and 5* fire crystals is about 10 times that of 4*. I finally got a bunch of Shining today, for the first time.
