I play via Kongregate. If you have not already known, Kongregate is a game site hosted by Gamestop. Now, I purchase my energy through there, and play Spiral Knights through there. Now, before the battle sprite update (literally before) there were only around 50 players playing Spiral Knights. That's just... sad. I really felt alone. However, now there are around 100 players. That's how much this update worked. Why do you think it lags so much? More and more players are playing Spiral Knights and the server gets more lag because it needs to hold up the player's connection. See? This update did not make Spiral Knights a worse game. Stop complaining and play. OOO did the best thing.

Your logic:

"The game got more players so it's better, and you shouldn't have a negative opinion on this update because a lot of newcomers love it.".

This is so illogical to me that I need to facepalm with someone else's hand. Any volunteers?

I left the game after playing

I left the game after playing for a few months and reaching EndGame. When I returned I was pleasantly surprised on the most part, and the community feels better. On the most part, OOO did a good thing. However, there are aspects to their most recent updates which are downright deplorable, such as how crafting has become more complicated because of the time-wasting Forge system, which will waste your efforts of getting crystals unless you decide to grind for hours to get about 60 or more of them, when all you want to do is level up an item just to upgrade it into the next-level item.

EDIT @ Ink: use mine.

It's about as logical as judging the contents of an update by the amount of complaint threads on the forum.

Stop complaining? NEVER!

@ Ink-inc.: No, use mine; I am fairly hygienic and actually wash my hands.

@ Utrex-numero-dos: I think the update was, overall, good. I don't think it was 'THIS GAERM IS SO ARESORM NO DEBATE!"-good, but it brought much-needed traffic back to the game.

There are still a myriad of problems and issues regarding weapon/gear balance, monster difficulty, endgame content, invinciframes & hitstun, PvP class balance, glitches pertaining to the stun status effect, and etc. But I think the addition of sprites and the removal of elevator fees were definitely steps in the right direction.

Let's fix that:

Before 'The forge gives prize boxes.'

Fixed 'The forge is a horrible creation developed under the evil genius mastermind of Nick, who won't stop until every SK player is deeply saddened and all the emotions of them have been swallowed by OOO.'

Much better!

You hate the idea of mist energy, and you hate the idea of the forge. I'm sorry, but one of them will have to stay, and one will have to leave.

@Cirnothebaka

You hate the idea of something being reworked/replaced and not completely removed. You remind me of I-someone who posted another thread on this. He tends to come up with ideas, too.

While this update has some

While this update has some good points, the loot system changes where deplorable and the removal of teamwork elements downright disturbing.

I'm enjoying the new heat system. Instead of being automated and not really a part of the game (just an annoyance that no-one really cared about) it has become a integral part of progression, and I feel a part of that progression, like I'm actually contributing to my weapons' levels.

A vets opinion. I actually

A vets opinion. I actually hit 200 hours on my steam count so probably 500h total (didn't convert to steam until 5*). I went on hiatus.... Before the anniversary event this year (if there was one, probably was). I logged on a little later to see a hideous shield bar in haven and found myself scrambling to find friend info, inventory and such but got used to it. The dash and bash update didn't interest me either, I thought it would just make the game easier (which was unneeded). But the sprite update interested me, maybe because I remember when they first announced about this future update. I felt everything in the game changed after the sprite update, and I kinda liked it (not a first though). Since before sprites, before accessories, before punch ever existed, before missions, before guild hall decorations, I can say the game is much more diverse. I wish it could be more challenging though. I just did my first vana run in a group of 3 and didn't die once....on elite. Yeah you'll say "do SL" or "face some devilites" but honestly, I wish the whole game was like that. I liked the way the arcade was set up but now, you can just sit in your ready room by yourself and join a farming party, which makes you lack the interaction I so much enjoyed in the arcade. Has the game gotten better overall. Overall I believe so, however not by much, but I still find myself playing once again

I thought this was going to be an insightful topic but it ended up being a facebook "friend" circleyank.

in any case spiral knights has improved but it's far from its former glory. but with the new and the old, it can be so much more *dramatic music and sunset and dolphins making love to the sunset
