GET OVER IT
P.S. how do you give yourself a profile picture on the forum?
I have a detailed sword guide written for people in your position. You might want to jump to the section on elemental swords.
Well it certainly WAs informative but really didnt help my indecision although thanks for the advice
Well, you said that you like high attack speed, and that's all you told us about yourself. My guide tells you the attack speed of each sword (in strokes per minute), and the damage per second, and so forth. And it gives you an opinion on which one you should get. So, beyond all of these things, what would help your indecision? I don't see what else we can say, until you tell us more (possibly by trying the low-star versions of these swords).
as i said this is my first post but im a striker class so i like to get in do damage get out although thanks to your sword guide im leaning towards divine avenger 'cause i cant get WRH
I believe that the Brandishes are the only fast ele weapons in the game right now. Of course, you could also treat yourself to the Hammer lines, but those are incredibly hard to control and you might get a slight bit of rage going on. But to get that, you must have eithera lot of crowns, or OCH, but it was a suggestion.
If you want an easy answer, go with Combuster. It's the most effective of the brandishes and will serve you well. Glacius is a close second due to the crowd control it provides. If I did more soloing, I'd probably want one just for that. Voltedge is a somewhat distant third being that enemies can't ride the charge like a Combuster and the crowd control isn't as good as with Glacius.
Id advise you not to take the Voltedge because it may look cool but it dosent do that much damage as the Combuster plus Glacius is far more better if your'e in a group cos it has crowd control. If i were you i wouldnt take the Voltedge.
I also recommend the combuster over the other brandishes.
Combuster is usually much better than the glacius when in a party for 3 reasons:
1) Teamates tend to just hit the frozen enemies so no breakout damage while fire will continue to burn even if the enemies are hit.
2) the total damage from all the fire ticks sums to quite a higher number than the breakout damage that freeze does
3) Combuster's charge explosions send the enemy all the way back so if you aim right, they take the swing, all 5 explosions and are sent far away from you while voltedge and glacius status effects often hold the enemy in place so the explosions pass through them, thus they don't take all 5 explosions and are not sent far away.
If you take those three points into account, the combuster usually does way more damage to enemies than the glacius when in a party.
If you're going solo, then the gap between their usefulness decreases, but i still say combuster is better since point 2 and 3 still stand and if you have to deal with healers and attackers at the same time, combuster gives you the offensive power to output more than the monsters regen.
Also, the voltedge recipe is comparatively much harder to get since you have to play so much lockdowns. I think the only real downside to the combuster is that it can't inflict its status on the enemies of Firestorm Citadel since all the monsters are fire type, or get more dangerous when lit on fire.

In my opinion Combuster is still the best choice for Firestorm Citadel, because of your point #3. You can predict how much knockback the charge is going to cause. You can inflict enormous damage on the enemy --- often one-shot-killing them. (That depends on damage bonus, party size, and difficulty level. Doing it on Elite may no longer be possible. But you still do a ton of damage.)
Also, just for the sake of completeness: Trojans in Firestorm Citadel do burn. Oilers are often on fire by the time they reach you anyway. And Combuster often kills oilers in one charge anyway. So lighting oilers on fire should not be a big consideration.
Although I favor my voltedge over combuster, Combuster and acheron are the only brandish lines that carry a target through the full charge, guaranteed.
Add that to the fact that the only enemies that are non elemental that -benefit- or are unaffected from the fire status often die anyway because of the sheer power of the charge, and you have yourself one hell of an elemental sword.
Also. apart from vog, the brandish lines are the only swords that deal elemental damage (iirc). So pick your poison.
You forgot about Divine Avenger and Warmaster Rocket Hammer for elemental swords. But otherwise your post is spot-on.
You forgot the almighty Cautery Sword in the list of Brandish derivatives which carry the enemy across the entire wave, guaranteed.
Preferably with high attack speed, so one of the three swing med speed swords. That'll be the elemental brandishes then. Each of them work the same way as your night blade. Three swings, charge attack of a lined explosion. The elemental brandishes all have the same attacks with the same damage with no status proc on those hits. The only difference is the charge attacks.
Combuster: The fire status brandish. Most upfront damage since it deals fire and does not stop enemies from riding the entire wave of explosions.
Glacius: The freeze status brandish. Freezes enemies in place and allows you some breathing room to do whatever you want. Like charge again to chain freeze enemies.
Voltedge: The shock status brandish. The recipes are obtained from krogmo if memory serves, so play some lockdown and blast network. And by some I mean quite a few. Deals shock on the explosions, which deals elemental damage with the ticks and will damage other enemies close enough.
