I quitted SK 1,5 years ago, but I've decided to come back a little bit. I got some questions (about bombs mostly)

After hearing that elevator doesn't cost you energy anymore, I got excited and I'm sort of doing a comeback. But here are my questions:

1. Has RSS changed completely? I know it does piercing only, but does it still shoot projectiles everywhere, so if you managed to plant one under a mob, it could get instagibbed?

2. It seems the salt version of RSS does shadow dmg! Very cool. Is it identical to RSS?

3. What can you tell me about Deadly Splinter Bomb, Dark Matter bomb, Crystal Bomb and Shard Bomb? How do they work and are they worth getting?

4. Is the DLC bomb (Dark Retribition) good? How does it work and is it worth buying the DLC to get the bomb?

5. Are Big Angry Bomb and Irontech Destoyer considered good nowadays? It seems they do stun as well.

1. These new shards bombs are completely different from the old RSS. No, I don't think that you can one-shot-kill much of anything.

2. The old RSS did piercing and elemental, and the new RSS does piercing. So, no, a shadow bomb is not identical. But, yes, all of these new shard bombs work similarly. Try searching YouTube. You should be able to find many videos.

3. Try searching Google for "spiral knights forum shard bomb". You will find many, many threads. The consensus is that the new shard bombs are not nearly as powerful, nor as fun, as the old RSS. Sorry.

4. Yes, Dark Retribution is very good against slimes and gremlins, and not bad against constructs either. It's okay against beasts, but Dark Briar Barrage is better. I can't answer whether it's worth buying OCH; that depends on how much you value your time and money. But I'll just point out that OCH is fun, and you get a couple of other great items too.

5. The conventional wisdom is that Nitronome still outshines Big Angry Bomb and Irontech Destroyer. But I have never used the latter. You should read the Bombing Guide on the wiki. It's pretty good.

NEVER use the normal damage shard bombs and NEVER use any other shards against neutral targets.
You'll have to exploit monsters' weaknesses to deal (still low) decent damage.

As for Irontech, some claim it's more party friendly since stun gives your teammates a few seconds to react against monsters being flung across the room, compared to nitronome :v
