Hello all,

I haven't played in a while and now there are all these 'new' things going on which is exciting but at the same time a bit confusing.
Basicly I only have the Wolver line (both Vog and Skolver) but I want to start doing the missions I described in the topic and need a bit of help to decide what I should be working towards.

I think getting the snarby set would be my best bet for the LoA danger mission but then I would have to go to the Shadow Lairs where I have not been yet either so thats why I just added the Shadow Lairs to the the group as I do have to go there as well.
For the compound mission I remember the Dragon Scale Shield being pretty OP but thats about it.
The ice and shock missions right now have me a bit clueless except for Skolver having freeze resistance for the ice mission.

Well I am asking for a lot but just a general outline of what would be really useful to have for these missions would be greatly appreciated, I know its all a personal preference but knowing which direction to look at would help a lot.

I talked mainly about armors above but the weapons which would be useful are also greatly appreciated.

Thanks for reading. :)

start with wiki

Have you read the wiki article "Shadow Lair"? It gives broad advice on the kinds of weapons and armor that you should bring to each.

For Legion of Ashes, you want normal+shadow armor and elemental weapons. Blitz Needle also helps. There is no status threat.

For Compound 42, you want normal+piercing+elemental+fire+poison armor and shadow weapons. Dragon Scale is awesome, but not very useful elsewhere. I just use Vog Cub.

For Heart of Ice, you want normal+shadow+freeze armor and piercing+elemental weapons. Snarbolax is good, if you can get it.

For Ghosts in the Machine, you want normal+elemental+shadow+shock armor and elemental weapons. On the armor, shadow is maybe the least important part.

I'm presuming that you're a Sword User because you said about Snarbolax.

Brandish Lines are pretty OP. Acheron would be more useful for C42 than GF unless you already have a GF, then don't bother wasting your money. Also Blitz Needle is useful for Heart of Ice, especially the Boss, Maulos. For heart of ice there are only 2 proper Shadow Freeze Sets, and those are Dread Skelly and Snarbolax. You don't sound like you're prepared for Snarbolax Shadow Lair, so I'd go with Dread Skelly Set. There are also Kat helms but those are hard to obtain. Legion of Almire; there isn't any Status theme so you COULD just re-use Dread Skelly Set. It would make things cheaper for you. Again, I'd go with a Elemental Brandish line. Lastly, for Ghosts in the machines, I'd recommend going for 1 piece of Divine Set. If you're only getting 1 piece then you may aswell go for the Veil. I'd also go for a piece of Chaos to go with that Divine Veil. Weapon Recommendations for GTIM would be a Blitz Needle (useful for boss) and any elemental sword.

Now for Shadow lairs, I'll make this short:

Snarbolax - Dread Skelly Set (Cheapest option considering Danger missions) OR if you want to get Radiant Silvermail. It's almost ideal for Shadow Snarby but it's your call if it's worth the hassle. I guess for weapons I'd go for a Final Flourish/BTB, an elemental brandish line. Also a Blitz would be good for the boss + Shivermist buster for the large groups of Undead.

Ice Queen - Skolver Set + BTS is probably the most useful plus cheapest set. If you're into swords then Skolver is ideal. For weapons I'd go with a Combuster, a shadow sword (your choice), a Biohazard or Polaris is also useful here.

Twins - Grey Feather Set is great here. It is full of both fire and shock hazards and Construct and Gremlins. Again, it's your choice for weapons, Shadow/elemental sword, perhaps a Polaris...also if you have Operation Crimson Hammer I quite like bringing a Warmaster Rocket Hammer there.

Vanaduke - I guess I'd go for Vog Set, or, if you feel like it, Divine Veil + Vog coat OR Armor of the Fallen. get Vog Coat is you're good at avoiding hits, but Fallen (Armor) is brilliant with Divine Veil. The Veil removes the penalty + you cover all the damages and statuses. But feel free to go Vog. For weapons I'd go Elemental brandish Sword, Fang of Vog (Free from Brinks, 40 Almarian Seals), Blitz Needle and maybe Divine Avenger or Rocket Hammer. Fang of Vog is useful for Giant Slag Guards, Hammer and Blitz is useful for Boss and elemental brandish to help you get through the normal levels.

I hope this helped. Goodluck!

You don't sound like you're prepared for Snarbolax Shadow Lair, so I'd go with Dread Skelly Set.

UGWW is a fair bit easier than Heart of Ice, in my opinion. I'd say only the Unknown Passage even comes close.

Isn't there curse in Legion of Almire? (Rarely)

uh, maybe

I can't remember seeing any curse in Legion of Almire. If there is any curse, then it's rare, as you say. And if it's rare, then I don't count it as a status threat.

Legion of Almire curse enemies.

There is only 1 enemy that causes curse and that is the Almirian Shadow Guard. The shadow guards cause curse but there is 2 of them at the end of the mission.

The curse in LoA is like, nonexistant. I think I've been cursed there like twice over the course of earning the final prestige mark horse head thing of glory. (which I would like to turn off lol. I just want the prestige points in case OOO gives out a real reward for them.)

yeah, exactly

Exactly. I've played Legion of Almire a lot --- at least half of the days that it's been offered, since it was introduced to the game --- and I didn't even know that curse could happen there. That's how rare it is. Possibly it depends on party size? I usually do that mission solo.

Thank you all for the

Thank you all for the recommendations, I wasn't able to get on the last few days so my reply is a bit late sorry about that.

@Bopp

I have been on the wiki but I have not seen any mention of advice on gear to use at Shadow Lairs. I did manage to find it now though, so thank you.

@The-Mighty-Potato

Thank you for the long and helpful text, I am indeed a sword user and have almost all the Brandish swords the only one I don't have yet is the Combuster. I also have the Blitz Needle and Polaris.
Although I do say that I am a sword user I do think almost everyone also uses either a gun or a bomb for certain situations so I can't say I am a pure sword user, I just like using a good balanced load out as a mostly solo player.

Looks like I mainly lacked some good armor besides the Vog and Skolver and will be working towards it, I had worked on a Divine Veil just before I quit and it was almost lvl 10 so it looks like I will be able to get either the GITM set or Vanaduke set pretty easily. Although I am surprised about the vanaduke armor set, I thought the snarbolax set was perfect for Shadow Lairs Vana.

Once again thanks to all of you who replied, it really helped me out.
