I redeemed my Jelly Tokens for an Antigua (a 3* gun). I equipped it and joined a party at level 21, which gave me enough heat to complete level 1. I accessed the Forge at the arsenal pad at the beginning of level 22, and used 3 glowing fire crystals for a 100% success forge rate, and got a 25% heat boost. After level 22, I accessed the forge again in level 23 and used 6 glowing fire crystals (I have about 120) for another 100% successful forge and a double level bonus which took me to level 4. I played one more level and even though the heat indicator showed me not completing level 4 heat, the forge said I did, so I used the forge again with 18 crystals for 100% success to get it to level 5 – enough to craft the 4* gun, which I did with 3 elite orbs (free).

In summary, I did it in 3 levels using 27x3* fire crystals and 3x4* orbs – all free. Even though I used to be able to do it in 2 levels of Sovereign Slime or Roarmulus Twins missions (I always play the third level as well, though), the no-energy requirement for gates or crafting made it, all in all, a nice improvement for me.

Yes, you can't do heating runs in FSC anymore, but I rarely did that tedious, overly-long mission anyway. And I don't see making it take longer (maybe much longer) as a bad thing. The game is a lot less fun if you rush through everything anyway. The anticipation and ultimate is part of the fun, or it should be anway, and not seen as a "grind" or "work". And with no mist restrictions, I'd say it's a fair trade.

P.S. On a somewhat related note, I was sitting on seven level 10 Ash Tails which I hadn't gotten around to crafting into Snarbolax gear yet. I anticipate the value of those particular Shadow Lair gear going up quite a bit as they are now much more time consuming to craft.

Hey mawa! :D

Tye main complaint is heating 4 and 5* stuff. It takes around 60-80 shining fire crystals to guarantee level ups for 4* from levels 7-10, and 80-102 crystals to level up 5* to level 10.

5* isn't much of a problem since elite fsc gives about 50 rad crystals per run.

Shining crystals are the issue people have. No one buys them, and they come in pretty small amounts in depths 19-21. Also, people get mad when they forge fail on a 70% chance. Iits mainly the amount of crystals needed at higher star levels and heating levels that annoys people, especially if it fails. If it does, bam. 60 crystals gone.

It does balance out the practically nonexistent crafting costs though. It is a very fair system.

Edit:

Wasnt clear. It was 60-80 shining fire crystals per level for levels 7-10 on a 4* item. Thats 200 shinies.

And 80-102 rad fire crystals for each level from 7-10 for 5*. Closer to about 270 crystals.

Shining Fire Crystal Farm

@Voza-II

You should honestly farm In Cold Blood. It gives 15-30 shining fire crystals per run.

I play to have fun, and my gear levels up in the background
Others apparently play this game solely to level up their gear.

I meant she, but whatever. Seriously, they appear in basically every thread so much as mentioning the Forge to complain about it.

LOL i assume you are talking about either Cirnothebaka or Me. If you wanted a debate you could have just asked :).

To the OP, WOW you must be very lucky, nothing like that has ever happened to me, it usually takes me a week to level up 1 item up 1 level. I am glad your experience has gone well, maybe you could rub off some of that luck onto me ("knocks on wood").

I find it very hard to level gear now because I am a very casual player, I have leveled 2 items up 1 level total since the update. This is like 10 times slower then I used to be able to do.

I want the forge gone or fixed. More crystals & less required to level up.

To those of you who think that I am dumb and don't wait till 100% or only play on normal, let me say that I do not.
I ALWAYS wait till 100% and I ALWAYS play on elite. (somehow I still find very little crystal)

Maybe I am unlucky but I rarely ever get the 60 radiant crystals people talk about doing FSC on Elite, i get about 30, lowest was like 20, highest was like 50. IDK

You were lucky, it seems. I can't complain about it, though. I truly like it, makes it feel like leveling an item isn't just a trivial chore. Got me a 2 UV trinket the other day from one of 'em boxes.
