Assuming this was a serious question, the starting armor is perma-bound simply because SK expects you to have, at least, one full set (armor, helm, shield and weapon). As following sets are removable (sell them to vendors and whatnot), you could remove every set if starting armor wasn't perma-bound, and then your account couldn't do anything in the game (at it's core, you need at least one weapon).
Hence, the fact you "have better armors", is not a good enough reason to sell off starting armor.

Proto has many purposes =P including showing when you joined since there's 5 styles of proto...

This is a very good question. I do not think you can UNLESS you go to the unbinding smith in Haven. This will cost you lots of energy AND I do not even know if it will let you unbind starting armor. I personally still have mine (i beat all the missions) and can't get rid of it. I might be wrong and there might be a way. but you will have to wait and see what other people say.
