Awesome update. Thank you thank you thank you for making it so crafted items with leveled prerequisites can't be traded. twas a flaw in the design of the game.

A few hours before the update, a friend and I were talking about how we don't like buying ready-made equipment from players. We don't like the fact that anyone can just go on and get the best stuff that other people work towards without effort. It just discourages people from playing if they feel people can just buy the best stuff. Removes any goal to work towards. We were really tempted to just buy a whole bunch of stuff, but we figured it would rob the enjoyment of the process. Getting there is half the fun. :)

Plus it's good to have lower gear to work on because then we can help out and party with our lower level friends. Also my friend said that he feels he's only now starting to get good with blocking and he's sure any experienced players he he met would have dismissed him as a noob if they saw him using a premade grey owlite shield with high elemental defense yet sucking. XD

Thank you devs!

Except for, say, the high

Except for, say, the high increase of CE costs for crafting, I don't blame this patch at all.
But 800 for 5* gear? I think 150 > 300 > 500 (or even 600) CE for crafting 3, 4 and 5* gear, respectively, wouldn't hurt the players so much. No, I'm talking about free players: any cent spent here get its worthiness almost halved. (I've bought 7k CE a month ago. T-T)

Well, I'm a 4* gear chillaxed player who still avoids playing T3 too much, have a lot of work to do and have still time with offline games and (OMG) real life. So I don't play too much and I don't care about it that much. ;9

There's a lot of stuff I like about the patch. And I think it's great that you weren't temped to "just buy a whole bunch of stuff" and rob yourself of the enjoyment of the process.

Before this patch, was somebody forcing you to buy stuff? You can tell us, we won't tattle. We may even be able to help.

I like how joining terminals is free now. So then I could just GO to the terminal instead of badgering my guild members to "GET ME THAT RECIPE PLEASE OH YOU DON'T HAVE ENOUGH UH WAIT LEMME SEND YOU MY CROWNS".

- The auction house *is*

- The auction house *is* nice. It makes buying and selling a lot less hassle for players (like me) who don't want to play "trade chat". 10% is high, but tolerable, and it's as good a crown sink as any.

- The advanced training area is a great place to go do silly things - like carpet the floor with healing capsules.

- trade chat is far, far less annoying. Also, I can afford to turn it off if I want to. That's nice.

@Saphykun: You still have to

@Saphykun: You still have to give them crowns if they're short. Unless you port two levels before Basil, Basil will only greet you with 1star recipes now.

CRY SOME MOOOOOOOOORE

Personally, I'm fine with the update.

First off, I do have a few small gripes. I do think the crafting prices are steep compared to how much recipe costs were cut. I'm bummed about the binding because it was nice to be able to make stuff for my friends and vice versa but i was sick of people buying their way to higher levels without putting in the effort. The training hall wasn't what I envisioned. It is more of a one time tutorial than a place where you can hone your skills.

Those minor things aside I'm loving this update. First of all the Auction House. It's a nice new solution to the huge annoyance that was trade chat. Sure prices are tanking as everyone floods the market but things will balance out eventually.

Lastly, if anyone takes anything away from this post, please let it be this. The most important thing is it this update shows that the devs listen to us. we asked for an auction house? We got one. We wanted a training hall? We got one, even if it wasn't exactly what we desired. I'd like to congratulate OOO on having 2 major updates within the first 2 months of release. Working for a software company myself, I understand how challenging things can be at times. For every bug we see, 10 were fixed Indev before they ever saw the light of day. The fact that they can put out those fires and still have the time to roll out huge new releases is awesome. It bothers me that so many people are focusing strictly on the new things they don't like and not mentioning the other great things we got. Remember, this game is still less than two months out of release. Just as easily as crafting prices were changed, they could be changed again. These are just growing pains of a game that is trying to pander to players while remaining profitable. Stick with it, and I'm sure we're bound to see amazing things that none of us have even thought of. I hope Nick and Ian and everyone at OOO sees this post. I want them to know that I appreciate all the hard work they put into trying to make us happy and despite all the negativity on the forums as of late, there are still people who enjoy this game.

EDIT: @Sirrocco IT WAS YOU who covered the training hall in caps. The first time I walked in there I was so confused and almost thought it was a bug.

I think a lot of the backlash

I think a lot of the backlash on this patch has been a bit unthinking. Yeah it sucks that your items that you were crafting to sell are now worthless, and yes the jump in energy prices for crafting hurts, but it was NEEDED. The economy was a shambles. Prices on materials had been in a downward spiral for weeks, precrafted items were basically unsellable unless they were 4 or 5 star or had a rare UV, exploits of the system made it FAR too easy to reach the endgame in days, and the trade channel made it pointless to try to establish yourself as a seller.

To fix this they;

1) Added an auction house. This is of course the least controversial of additions, and it seems well implemented. I think that the listing charge is a bit silly, and would be better as a auction limit as the listing charge discourages sale of low star materials like shards, unless sold in bulk.

2) They prevented items of 4 and 5 star from being tradeable. Lets face it, with 40 or 50 dollars worth of energy you could jump in the game, buy a full set of gear, dive right down to Vanaduke and finish the "endgame" 4 star and 5 star should be earned. Yeah it sucks that some people got stuck with weapons they didn't want, but ultimately this kills weapon farming very effectively. As to those that feel they should have warned people imagine what would happen to the economy when everyone suddenly dumped all their 4 and 5 star stuff on the market at the same time.

3) Prevented people from buying recipes at Basil unless they had done the previous level If WoW had an exploit where you could guarantee that you could get a specific loot item that had a low drop rate AND sell access to it to every person who would pay would you expect them not to fix it? Recipes are SUPPOSED to be your reward for going through the grind levels. Your reward for the later levels is materials and heat. This was a fix that needed to happen and will make the recipe market once again worth investing in.

4)Boss Tokens I've not heard much complaint about this, probably because its annoying when someone dumps in to your gate as you go in to the boss after you did all the hard work to get there. Again just because you COULD skip the early levels doesn't mean you should be able to. This leads us to the most controversial

5) Increased crafting costs Ok this will probably be tweaked through the life of the game, but people who flood the market with cheaply crafted stuff because they are UV grinding was killing our economy. Now maybe it won't be as prevalent.

tl:dr The economy was dying because it was WAY too easy to make everything in the game, and the only way to fix that is to make it harder. No change like this was going to be popular but at least they added some sugar to the sour with an auction house, and when the price of materials and recipes goes back up and we have an actual economy I for one will be glad for the patch.

Actually, what I was implying

Actually, what I was implying was that, the decision not to buy stuff is your own decision. Nobody was forcing you to buy stuff before. Your lack of will-power should not affect my ability to buy stuff.

That said, I am enjoying the ability to buy stuff in the auction house. Those 1 crown bidding wars may get tiring some day, but not today.

@cheeserito: I think that is what Saphyjun is trying to do: the free porting to terminal makes it easy to port over and hand your buddy the crowns so that he/she can buy the recipe for you. No mail cost accrued.

It's kind of impressive to

It's kind of impressive to read threads like this and see how naive people can be, and fail to understand the whole situation and view points of other players.

@Choobski - Okay. Now go to the suggestion forums, bug report forums, whatever. How many incredible suggestions/bug fixes, some that are even majorly required right now have been added? How many have even been commented by the devs?

Auction House was a major update that was seriously needed. They didn't add it because we suggested, they added it because it was necessary. Training Hall? I'm pretty sure that whatever the players suggested for the Training Hall was entirely different from what we got.

5) Increased crafting costs Ok this will probably be tweaked through the life of the game, but people who flood the market with cheaply crafted stuff because they are UV grinding was killing our economy. Now maybe it won't be as prevalent.

I seriously do not understand why the hell everyone is talking about this.

THE PRICES FOR CRAFTING ONE AND TWO STAR ITEMS HAVE NOT CHANGED. UV RAGECRAFTING IS THE EXACT SAME.

It only affected three to five star crafting. If anything, this encouraged ragecrafting EVEN MORE. Because of the high energy crafting prices, it's kind of better to just go and make an awesome UV instead of making a plain item, then getting the UV one, no?

Credendo... 2nd point is short sighted.

You state that you feel 4 and 5 star gear should be earned. How is spending that $40-$50 not "earning" it?

Especially since that Real life cash infusion is what allows 3 Rings to provide the rest of us the same game and content for free?

Random noobs jumping into the

Random noobs jumping into the game and outfitting themselves with end game gear is such an exaggeration. First off new players don't even know what end game gear is let alone how to buy it, that argument is mainly for people that do not own 5* gear and see other players running around with it... yeah it's called envy. It's their money, their choice, and their perspective of fun. Some players were also smart enough to realize that the cost of crafting items yourself was more than what the crafters were selling them for, I know it's hard to believe but it happened.

@Bawb: The reason I had many pieces of unbound 4* gear is beacause I don't like the concept of mass crafting 1* items, since I consider it to be pretty much gambling for UV's. So I made 4* items instead and sold those items for profit while at the same time gaining a lot of good UV items, this way I would pretty much profit whether I rolled good UV's or didn't. The update just made me profit even more, but only in the short term because end game trading has been reduced to exactly what I hated... mass crafting 1* items.

No praise

Well, this is not really a praise and I should be posting it into the discussion thread but I think it will just go down in a minute.

Imagining you working hard for something you really like, with passion and anything and it's something you want to share with everyone, still following me? Good.

You are finished with your project and you are showing it to everybody and they just tell you how much it sucks. Doesn't feel good does it?
We are all forgetting that the Devs are still humans just like you, but you say to yourself they're something more because of the "control", but that's not the case.

Just think about it that all these people working for this game are humans.

Greetings, a calmed down Riodaisho.

A fellow crafter

Zeroluck - I was just giving you crap about your name being rather ironic in this specific situation...

I am right there with you about the moaning and complaining about people "Buying" their way to END GAME.

If my friends join the game, why should they be FORCED to grind their way to my level before we can really play together?

I think that's a very short sighted action on the part of 3 Rings... Killing the social aspect of the game to satisfy envy fueled whining.

This update is what the game needed from the start. It was a huge oversight not to include an auction house. It is also a huge oversight to not to have 3+ star items stay bound. Crafting to unbind when there is no other unbind mechanism doesn't make a bit of sense. I even remember when I first saw you could do that thinking that couldn't possibly be right - what would be the point of making your own stuff at all? A sense of accomplishment?

These things should have been in from day 1 instead of 6 weeks in after people have developed businesses for themselves and gotten very used to the way things were - particularly crafting items for those with excess CE. The markups on 4-5* items is huge and really helps pay the bills.

I guess live and learn. OOO didn't think sharing/selling would be so rampant but now they know otherwise.

Seriously though, true story - last week I joined a party in T3 and there were already two people in it. They were decked out - both had full vog set, DA/GF and Grey Owlite. I pulled out an Ash and there were like "whoa, never seen a bomb before!" Then they saw I was carrying 4 weapons - "omg how do you carry so many weapons?" Yep, they were in T3 with 5* gear and had never seen a bomb much less heard of a Weapon Slot Upgrade. Needless to say, I got lots of heat on that run before I finally had enough and went solo.

Sure, people can buy 4* and 5* gear, so what? They are the ones paying for the CE. And recipes are there for a reason. And help out with lower things? Heat is divided between items, max out your items, then slowly use one item at a time, then you get levels.

And, so your "friend" is full of facts?

Do you even know what the point of recipes is, now? All they are now is just to get ourselves some item. And some that we can't even make now.
Equipments of a single player game. Recipes is just a crown sink. As if CE wasn't bad enough to buy, now we need to double the amount we need to buy for 3*~5*.

I got recipes/my friend didn't get any recipes, I did all the crafting for him. It was our only means to play for free, with occasional pay. Yeah. It must be a fact that everyone abused it. People make things for other people for free. Infact, I'm making a noob a Chroma Mask even though this is going to cost me 100 CE, where all he does is cover the crown cost for crafting. I'd gladly make a newb a full T2 set. And buying endgame is different, how? They can already get to the 'grind' point of the struggle to get 3* and 4*. The difference? They can finally become self-sustaining. 1K for a 2* sword. Etc.

Noobs only get kicked because of how they play and what they do. Drag down your team, get kicked. Ressing isn't magical, and half of that HP is IMPORTANT. Especially if you're using half of a full set of HP. Even 1 HP can make a difference. EVEN .5 of 1HP is a difference. EVEN .1.
There's always a reason for kicking.

If you need lower gear to party with your "friends", then they aren't your friends. We already have * penalties in other tiers, it shouldn't matter either way. Also, Recipe prices, do you realize how much items can cost? I'll gladly buy a 5* item to try out as opposed to making it and burning all my energy.
Don't forget the fact there are COSTUME slots. Why waste so much time and effort for something nonfunctional? If someone could help me out by making it, I'd pay the minimal fee. People don't sell it at ridiculous prices, people sell things at fair prices. Newbs being able to buy what non-newbs can is a variant. Not EVERYONE will do it, because they're NEW.

Buying isn't a big deal here, we don't have CE farmers. If you're going to blow it out of proportion, use a 'real' MMO.

Aside the rest of the crap, the update isn't that bad. It's not exactly what the game needs, but it's a start. More updates plz. plx. plox.
