Does Maskeraith obsolete the Plague Needle?

I don't have a plague needle personally, so to those who do have one, how do they compare to a Maskeraith's quills? Looking at it on paper, the Maskeraith deals guaranteed poison on an ability with short cooldown and does damage as well when the shards are knocked off by a weapon.

Does the Maskeraith have a weaker poison to balance this out? It seems like if you have a Maskeraith, there's literally no reason to bother getting a plague needle instead of a blitz needle.

Plague needle still has its

Plague needle still has its spot in a 4 man needle team. 3 blitz, 1 plague. I was corrected awhile ago about the dps between 4 blitz and the previously mentioned combination.

Besides, plague needle does more damage than mask. It's probably the other way around.

It's all good in theory, but a regular 4-man party might appreciate more a shivermist than a 4th gunner with plague.

See, besides Vana, all enemies die quick enough with the raw power of a blitz so there isn't much incentive to make plague anyways. Maskeraith has nothing to do with it.

Lol, maskeraith's quills aren't much of an issue, actually. They must be used tactfully, and cannot be spammed whereas plague needle can be fired everywhere.

Blitz needle on the other hand, really takes away the need for plague needle. There is no situation where I say "Oh man, if only I had a plague needle instead of or even with this blitz."

Pew pew.

Plague needle was sadly never worth it. It's fun to use in a deconstruction zone though.

Maskeraith only has around moderate poison (a bit stronger if you got virulent quills), while Plague has strong.

Absolutely, though. In practice, the difference between minor and strong poison is zilch. Minor poison stops healing just as much as strong poison does.
