Tortodrone!

Well, if anyone has seen SK's latest facebook post, while it doesn't reveal anything so-to-speak, by the looks of it, Tortodrone shouldn't be too far away now ;)

The reason Tortodrones took two years was because Ian or whoever hit artist's block when re-designing them and/or the dev team was having balance issues. Now that Altsby's on board, problem one is more likely to get solved, and problem two is simply a matter of time and playtesting.

Wolfe-Knight, thanks for doing what I stupidly forgot to! Yeah, the dead/deactivated/sleeping Torto' scenario rooms have been around for a while now, and to most people, it's old news... but the fact SK themselves are making a point of it now, I doubt we've got much longer a wait for the ol' shell!

Then we'll find out Tortodrone isn't making a comeback, we are just getting a new shield(that makes a bubble shield), bomb(Defensive, that also creates a bubble shield and knocks back enemies), and plate armor set.

Just remember all this hype will banish within 2 days of their release.

Make tortodrones only available in the Arcade! :D
(50% possible, 50% joke)

They're everywhere. It won't be long now until they wake up and start skulking around the Clockworks...
Then everyone will start farming them for their Shells. Again.

Given that the shield they drop is craftable, there won't be much point in farming it. That said, I'm definitely looking forward to fighting them.

inb4 they're an event only monster, drop tokens which are used to buy new shields and armor, event mysteriously never comes back.
It's fun being pessimistic, and if I set myself up with the worse expectations I can't be disappointed by the update.
@Hr-Dalp
For God's sake, let's not hope they make the Tortodrones a thing similar to the previous Kataclysmic Confrontation event. Because quite frankly, restricting your content in a game that already has so little end-game content already? It just surprises me, really.
Now, I understand the concept of events in particular. They are meant to create some sort of interest among veteran players that already reached end-game a year ago. Kind of like with promos, where they make their customers buy energy even though they don't necessarily need it, only to get their hands on the special items that come with. And the only reason they do this, is because the offer isn't staying very long.
It draws people's attention when something is only availible for a short amount of time, and I totally get that. What I don't get is why you're using this tactic when there aren't any other things to do in your game already, for end-game players that is. There already is a DLC for this game, that's one way to limit your content, at least to the F2P playerbase. And then there are the seasonal events, which I'm more than okay with, since it would be kinda weird seeing halloween or christmas themed characters running around in summer. But the Kataclysmic Confrontation event wasn't even seasonal themed, it should've stayed in the game forever! Same with Tortodrones, hope they don't become an event sort of thing.

PLease make the tortodrones stay, Some people dong get to even see them because it is such some little time, so they Quit playing. I Only got to see the Black Kat event in the last day :,(

Hooray for tortodrone!
I'm almost surprised that its happening so soon after they announced it in the scenario rooms, but I probably shouldn't be.

I found this whilst delving the clockworks very interesting.

@Zulu
What the hell... is that a Trojan Tortodrone?
@Hex
I hope I can walk of cliffs now

With the discovery of the remains of a probable shadow damage tortodrone in a devilish drudgery...might this mean that tortodrones will not belong to a monster family?

Or maybe the shadow Tortodrone will count as a fiend. Or all Tortodrones have unique resistances but count as constructs, sorta like how Vanaduke is technically a fiend but his damage resist varies over the course of the fight.
Also, fun fact I just figured out. Shadow Lairs are accessible from depth 23. Firestorm Citadel is 5 levels; that plus the Unknown Passage is 6 levels. This means that the Sanctuary for SFSC is technically at Depth 30, even though SLs all list their depths as Depth ???. That's the Core. If we're going to open the Core, Shadow FSC is the place to do it.

*sniff* *sniff* I smell some freaking good backstory around there.. *sniff* *sniff* seems tasty!

I don't think its a Trogan Tortodrone, see the stitching around the plates on the body? If i had to guess a name I would think something along the lines of "Franken-Drone" (alright even that sounds kind of corny, but you get the idea.)

Guys
what do we know of that's also purple (like the one in zulu's pic) and is created from a variant of tortodrone?
Well I dunno about you guys, but I'm gonna hope that's a Tortomega.
Either that or the fiends are up to some dark ritual stuff.

Nah, IIRC Tortomegas were supposed to be huge. Like, Gamera huge. Probably some Devil-ITs chucked some Dark Matter in a Tortodrone corpse to see if they would get a pet killing machine.

@Zulu Did you punch it?
Nope forgot to give it whack, I was in a rush to get to end of my run i almost never even noticed the tortodrone at all.

The fiends are testing the tortodrone and observing it. I can see it's body parts. They are reviving it with the same stuff they tried reviving Ur I think. And in fact trojans are only alive due to the crystals on there back same as the tortodrone and also when a trojan is killed you see the crystal falls out and it goes into a stone state. This looks exactly what the tortodrone' s state is at the moment. You might have been able break the rock. This suggests the tortodrone will comr back as an undead enemy and will probably primarily be shadow if it is any other type and will not be an enemy that doesn't attack unless provoked unlike before.

Well from zulus picture one tortodrone is dead because the parts of another tortodrone is on the table. The other one is merely deactivated. Much like trojans when their crystal is shattered. They aee not dead until their physical form is demolished.

So I check my Twitter page (mainly for the handful of services I use that communicate primarily through Twitter) and see a repost of the Facebook screenshots. I post "#Tortodrone2013" as a joke and lo and behold, when I check my email this morning I get a notification that @SpiralKnights is following me.
I guess this means that those of us with Twitter accounts should spam tweets with the hashtag #Tortodrone2013 to promote the Tortodrone update.

And with Zuluknight's find, it has all come full circle. OOO, I am on to you like a cannibal on a nice fresh body, smothered in honey and a nice caramel sauce.
~Magnicth

They are coming out. Nick even said they will be released in the future but with enchanced abilities...
This is the time. Get your skolver/plate armor and let's go snatch some stone tortoise shields :D

So are we just posting all the screenshots of these things now?
http://cloud-4.steampowered.com/ugc/882990709075681844/488EB805451F5961F...
http://cloud-2.steampowered.com/ugc/882990709075673784/2508CED7E29202E0A...
And I think trojans might be like Battlepods in terms of family/defense.

(First post, woohoo)
Wow, I just came back to the game a few days ago... These guys got removed? Glad they're making a comeback though, they were pretty fun if I remember right...

Welcome bafk! Heres a quick summary of wat happened since u left (starting from tortodrone era, and probably totally out of order)
-Lofkdown
-Shadow Lairs
Pokemon
-UI changes
-bash dash slash
-UVs troll roller
-Candlestick keep
-Guild halls
-Stormy thunder stuff
-Accessories
other stuff. Also, u r post #32, not #1....?

The description for The Return of Ur says "Strangely, the memo indicated that the Legion of Ur was sealed away in the Underworld and that an alternative approach would be required for bringing them back." So probably the devilites are trying to bring back the legion through tortodrones. Also the markings on the shadow tortodrone's shell look like those purple mark things on the floors of devilite levels.

I'd say that the devilites stuffed the tortodrones with dark matter to use them for their own purposes.

Based on how things are currently run
1. This will most likely me a promo/event
2. Will involve killing hundreds of Tortodone to get tokens/materials
3. Will involve thousands of tokens/materials to craft something
4. Players will sell crafted items for ridiculous prices
5. Players will be either forced to grind for cr/ce or pay real money for more cr/ce
6. 000s profits

im scared how probable that is
edit: 60% probable i think

I didn't even look closely at what I posted.
Are those vortex exploding blocks?

I have just found a Tortodrone in a rather unusual place:

Has anyone seen this before, or is it one of the "behind the scenes changes" making Tortodrones more common in the Clockworks?

One of many Scenario Rooms about the Tortodrones.
Most common ones are in Wolver Dens, one in Devilite Drudgeries, & a few in Clockwork Tunnels.
Keep in mind, that some Scenario Rooms are exclusive to some Tiers. Here's a list showcasing all Scenario Rooms & what Depths to reach them.

I've forgotten all about scenario rooms. It's been so long since I've really cared about them, but I admit that Tortodrone scenario rooms do seem to be more common nowadays.
Here are the shots they put up with the "not so vague" comments.
