A newbie question about gear Progression?

Hey! and thanks for checking, i have a question that is probably a little dumb, but we where all newbies at one point and time.. So here i go!

I'm currently dabbling in between 2 star and 3 star items, and progression is feeling very sluggish, I'm having a really hard time obtaining the Alchemy orbs required for T3 items, but after spending most my crowns, and getting about 4 from dungeon delving i have one piece left to go.

This still leaves me with a question though, do the tiers mean that my gear progression simply stops at 5 stars, or is there progression past that? I'm not necessarily talking varying sets for different jobs, but actual stronger sets to upgrade weaker T5 sets?

In my past "online gaming" experiences, i found that once i leveled a single class i usually really can't convince myself to start over with another, and from what i currently understand my gear will decide my playstyle, essentially meaning that once i get one T5 set, I'll be trying to get others for different playstyle/class styles rather then getting better gear, correct? ( I'm aware there are no classes, just drawing a comparison. )

Again sorry for the cluelessness, I'm just really curious where nearing the end of the game will take me, and what (if anything) changes at higher Gear/star levels.

(want to edit with one more question)
To craft 5 star gear, will i always have to first craft It's lower Tiers as recipe components, or is this just something the cobalt set required me to do?

Bop's going to comein and

Bop's going to comein and explain it and make everyone else who triesto, includig me, look like an idiot. But here I go

Almost everyweapon has a base weapon, typically 2 or 3*. You will have to go through the crafting process from there in most cases. And yes, everything stops at 5* for now.

Some weapons require specially acquired recipes to craft, such as electron vortex needing krogmo coins (you need to do lockdown for these....if you decide to step foot in a lockdown arena....well, it was nice knowing you)

Lol jk jk

But yeah, after that, there are boss token items (check brinks, the token trader, in the bazaar in town square for items under boss token titles). These just have recipes that are harder to obtain, because all other recipes can be found in Various hall of heroes missions.

Lastly, there are other weapons, such as the Rocket hammer and dark retribution, which can only be obtained through DLC.

And tge lionheart honor blade. Some random event

For more info on specific gear, check the wiki, some useful info there still.

And orbs of alchemy can be obtained thru missions as well, if that helps!

I hope I helped without sound too dumb. Good luck crafting!!

Oh yeah, completely derped

Oh yeah, completely derped out. Most 5* armor and helms gain some sort of bonus aside from giving you stronger defense. For example, using the horrirically overused wolver line, the 2* line gives damage bonus mlow for swords. The five star versions give either dmg bonus med or attack speed increase med for swords. All of the gear bonuses are on tge wiki, it helps :)

For weapons, at level 10, they all gain ctr med at every star level. Progressing to 5* gives you more base damage, and depending on the sword, a different charge attack.

And at the moment, there aren't ways to uograde 5* gear. Technically, you could kill $1000 irl cassh rolling Unique Variants on your armor and helm, which reduce damage taken to specific types, or help status resistances. But getting into UVs is extremely expensive, and not necessary unless you want to go tryhard in lockdown.

Another type of armor called shadow lair armor essentially is a slightly stronger and different than existing armor. It can only be crafted after completing a shadow lair, and has different bonuses. For example, snarbo armor is shadow and normal defense, which is a change from the skolver armor. (

And in case you want to know, some weapons are horribly weak.
This includes every normal damage sword, and the neutralizer and iron slug. Go for the good armor! It will make fighting in PvE and PvP much easier for you.

Mission rewards

Brilliant! Thanks for all the info, really helps!

Theres one more thing I'm curious about, is it correct that missions only reward me once? ( I cant progress hall of heroes because i need full star 3 gear, but repeating older missions for alchemy orbs doesn't seem to work. )

Again, thanks tons :3

Pretend I wrote something clever here

Yes, the mission rewards are only given to you the first time you complete the mission.

Yes, it'd be too easy if missions gave rewards more than once.

This could be insane, but...

If missions gave rewards more then once.... So many.... 4* and 5*.. The thought of it is scary.

Spend your early Tier 1 and Tier 2 days figuring out what play-style you like: swords, guns, or bombs.

Generally speaking:

  • Swords deal a lot of damage, kill quickly, can handle mobs. Tend to make you take the most damage since you need to be within range of danger a lot, with most things in T3 3-hit killing you without HP trinket slots. Probably the most popular class, given that Wolver line of armor readily provides sword damage bonuses at 2 star, whereas gunslingers don't see armor until 3 star.
  • Guns deal less damage, but are safer (since you are at a distance). Tend to kite enemies a lot (string them around the room as they chase you) and need a lot of space to roam freely. Ideal for taking out turrets or things that shoot a lot of projectiles, which can be difficult to evade at close range with swords. Tends to have poor knockback on most weapons (Polaris being the notable exception) and has difficulty handling mobs, especially in tight rooms. Ideal for slow moving monsters that tend to deal a lot of damage to those who melee (ie. Lumbers). Often supplies support damage to sword users in parties.
  • Bombs are great for mobs and have a good selection of status casting (generally referred to as haze bombs, even though the haze bomb specifically refers to one type of bomb). Tends to struggle when solo-ing dungeons, but are great support roles and welcome in parties. Misuse of lag-prone weapons or excessive knockback (ie. Nitronome, blast bomb series) can interrupt other party members' ability to fight effectively, though. Can be overwhelmed with mobs because taking hits interrupts charge time (which they must do in order to attack). Probably the most underused class, given its difficulty to acquire good gear from the start--low level bombs have terrible range.

As for crafting, think of the 5 star gear as its "final form." Weapons behave differently and armor offer different bonuses as they are upgraded. As a rule of thumb, it's best to select helmet/armor that offer secondary bonuses too, like damage increase or attack speed increase. Armor such as Cobalt don't offer much, and it may not be in your best interest to fully level this gear, especially as your first 5 star gear. Consider exploring the wiki and planning what 5 star gear you'd like which complements your playstyle.

Generally, it's a lot easier to obtain more 5 star gear once you already have a set. This is because once you have a good amount of crowns, you can buy a 3 star gear, level it to level 5, craft the 4 star, level 10 it, then make the 5 star. You would not need to start with 2 star gear.

You can purchase Orbs of Alchemy in the Supply Depot (and energy in the Energy Depot) or from the Auction House in Haven. Optionally, you can find them in Treasure Boxes but expect them to be rare.
