Many times my SK crashes and it goes (Not responding). I try to close it by clicking on the red X (I play on windowed mode). Doesn't work even when even when I try to end it with task manager whenver it crashes. So my only choice is usually to restart my laptop to close the SK. Anyone know if there's a way to close it instead of restarting? Really annoying :/

@Kirito-BS

The thing is, I use steam and it won't let me have another SK running. Elite orbs drop mostly in Stratum 4&5.

Control+shift+esc if it's win7. Loads faster.

Mac for the

Mac for the win...dows!!!

Sorry, bad joke...

On Mac, there is a force quit option. Not sure if windows has the same feature, but maybe you could look for that?

Also, the question about elite orbs was literally the most random thing ever...

Another solution

I found that if you delete system32, then SK will close. Try that?

Whenever the java vm crashes on my steam SK, you can force quit but the process still uses resources. Only way around is to restart the computer.

Try ripping your computer out and throwing out the window. Although it costs some $$$, that may work if there's literally NOTHING else you can do (even computer power button doesn't work.)

Task manager

In task manager, just go into the "processes" tab and find one labeled "java.exe *32", right click, select "end process". The process should end and thus spiral knights should close

You are experiencing a PICNIC ERROR!

In theory, SK shouldn't be crashing. Try fixing the game cache. (You do this by right clicking Spiral Knights in the left menu in the library, and then preferences. I don't have Steam open right now, so I might be wrong about this, but try looking for something along the lines of "Clean game cache." That should fix the crashing altogether.)

Also, the only case where something cannot be killed is if it goes zombie. This is a term for a program which won't die until restarting, or depending on the system, prevents restarting! It's very rare for this to happen, and it's only been once for me. (Though not SK.) I find it surprising that you have the problem reliably, which leads me to the cache. Your Spiral Knights is probably corrupt.
