How about whenever you try to grab a smaller mineral of the same color, you don't pick it up?

I know it wouldn't save a TON of time, but why not?

+1 Though, we should be firm

+1

Though, we should be firm about this only applies when you're targeting the same type mineral. Suppose I change my mind and want Crimsonite instead of Dark matter, but the former is smaller. I should be able to switch between the two no problem.

I give a 0. you should be able to pick it up, but you should be noted if you pick a smaller one.

I think this would be good if you were picking up the same type

I think this would be good if you were picking up the same type, but if I wanted to go from large dark matter to medium crimsonite, I would be pissed if I couldn't.

Edit: +1

You are experiencing a PICNIC ERROR!

Okay for as long as I don't trap myself in small Crimsonite while wearing a Shiny Crimsonite.

waaait

This actually could be bad. Players could abuse minerals and the Hammer charge attack to corner players making them stuck.
+1 to this as a toggleable option.

Yes, +1 for optionality. I've actually had to dig myself out of ore pickups a few times, to say nothing of intentional griefing. Also, I sometimes like to move clumps when they're in inconvenient places.

For that matter, I'd like to be able to set down the clump on my back so I don't have to swap-carry in order to have portable obstacles for combat engineering purposes.

This is a good point, even though it shouldn't be.

Okay, how about you can pick up smaller minerals of the same color if you *hold* the button for about a second? That way you don't have to root around in a menu every time you get stuck.

No.

Only if it's off by default. I don't see a benefit to it, only possible drawbacks (already mentioned by others here, like getting stuck).

and also make minerals walkthrough.

If I could have a crown for every time I've died running into a mineral dropped by someone who ragequit in a tough fight, I'd have two crowns.
