A major issue with the way people respond on the suggestions forum

A thought occurred to me a while ago, and there was of course, an extra credits episode to sum it up.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=on7endO4lPY

To put it into perspective, people view threads in suggestions by how well they align to what is summed up in the "suggestions forum guide" found on the wiki. This guide tells us what is a good and what is a bad suggestion, but in reality, there are no bad suggestions. Even ones that involve sonic the hedgehog are good in some way.

The first thing I'd like to point out would be the "noob thread"

And I really think that a lot of the suggestions forums regulars go about it the wrong way. A lot of ideas are shot down forcefully simply because of poor grammar, or lack of research. But I think that these ideas are worth something more- take for example Mr-Happykiller's thread:

http://forums.spiralknights.com/en/node/87318

His suggestion is in sum:

Remove the Forge, make a shock sprite, add in more ranks, make more shadow lairs, give us back health sharing revives, make more gear.

And in the first post, Shotjeer detailed exactly why his idea was "a noob post". But that doesn't mean it isn't valuable to the game! What he's saying is far more important than many of the other threads that I saw. His post was saying "The endgame is rather lacking, progression through the game is slow and I feel limited in being stuck with one battlesprite".

Rather than telling him off, I believe that Shotjeer should have listened to him and instead commented on his ideas. He could have clarified the above ideas... and instead said something like:

"The endgame is rather large already, but I would agree that the game is rather lacking in content; what if they made a level editor to fit their needs as well as expand the game instead?"

A comment like this offers a solution to his statements and is easy to follow.

(I don't mean to hate on/name+shame Shotjeer, as it really isn't his fault; and I too have at some point made the same mistake MANY times over... these kinds of comments are almost a cultural thing at this point as is evidenced by Skyguarder and Thunder's comments)

It isn't just the "newb threads" either

A lot of other suggestions are things like Hexzyle's "Idea for 5 star vitasuit stats":

http://forums.spiralknights.com/en/node/87564

The majority of people reading the thread immediatly chimed in with "Well, it could be viable..." and +1'd it as if it were some kind of vote. But the thing that I really saw that stood out to me was this conversation between Juances and Hexzyle:

Juances: My question is, OP or not, Would you actually wear it? Remove stun and curse and put MSI.
Hexzyle: I certainly would. I could equip that and then jump into any level without having to bother to check what theme it was. MSI would be nice too, provided it doesn't make it too unbalanced. It would definitely make the equipment a "healthy" armor, matching its intended purpose.

So, the purpose of the armor is to allow players to join up to any level at any time then. Rather than changing the game constantly, the developers need to see "remove arsenal stations", or a similar idea like "quit switching up level themes all the time so I can keep my pants on" or even "make armors viable everywhere+different".

Its like we have a thought and then don't think it through enough before we post; if you're going to be a regular on a forum section purely about developing the game, it would make sense to look at the game like a developer and say "what is the real issue here???"

Hexzyle isn't the only one to subtly address this issue:

Loadouts are a pain: http://forums.spiralknights.com/en/node/87421

This thread is about renaming loadouts, but more specifically the fact that you constantly have to update/deal with your loadouts. What this shows is that loadouts do not match up with the way players are using gear; our gear is constantly changing as we acquire more, and we have to account for that within our playstyle constantly as well. The developer solution of loadouts isn't working so well within this player-system.

The forge preventing players from changing loadouts swiftly: http://forums.spiralknights.com/en/node/86525

The idea here is that the forge thing opens itself every time you visit an arsenal station. This could also be avoided simply by making the armor work a bit differently.

The thing about these though, is that many of the comments are either "for or against". And I'm not talking about the random people that wander into the suggestions forum and throw threads entirely off topic, I'm talking about the "respected suggestions forum-goer". It isn't entirely wrong to show support, but adding to threads and pointing out the underlying ideas in them is really more important than whether you think the fix is "right" or "wrong" for the game.

Any thoughts on this? (and no, this is not a suggestion about Spiral Knights. Please don't move it!)

This is one of this points

This is one of this points where I usually start writing.. then don't.

For the sake of the thread I will.
I don't think there can be said to much about the suggestions forum and its values before we know how OOO handles it.
Do they want us to pitch ideas, do they want us to further explain and refine these posts first, do they...

I know this thread is about how people respond to eachother on the suggestions forum, but most of the time I feel it is just that:
players listening to/arguing against other players.
Which frankly doesn't lead us anywhere except 5 minutes further in time and a piece of your life you'll never get back.

Also: I dislike noobthreads because they always are about 1 thing and one thing only: 'I want. NOW'.
Not: what do WE need.

Well yes, but like I said- they have some of the best points, they just don't know it.

I want to add more on top is not a 'best point' imo, not at this time.
We need to patch up the foundations of this house before we put on yet another floor is.

There is an abundance of 'Hey guys, look what cool stuff I came up with' that gets everybody in a rush.
Suggestions that actually help the game at the moment it is in now, with possible solutions etc, are few in between.

You didn't CTRL+C the URL for the vitasuit link correctly and just pasted the link you posted previously. Should be this one: http://forums.spiralknights.com/en/node/87564
