As the title says, I'm running a macbook pro with OSX 10.6.7. For the past two days any time I try to log in, I put in my password, and the text changes to "Logging on..." but never does anything else. Doesn't fail, doesn't log in, just stays there indefinitely. Same if I attempt to play in-browser.
Mac 10.6.7 Stuck at "Logging on..."
I am having the same problem with Mac OS X 10.6.7. I am a new member and have never played the game before. I would like to play, but it won't go past the logging on screen.
Day 3 and still no change. I've uninstalled and re-installed three times, and tried using the browser-launched version.
Considering that I was a paying player...
have you guys found any way to solve the problem?
Have you checked if this is a connection problem?
If you are playing on a wireless internet connection, try plugging your ethernet cable directly into your computer. I don't have a lot of experience with Macs, but you could always try updating your Java.
I can say its not an OS-wide problem, as I run Spiral knights on my Macbook Pro all the time, running 10.6.7. Make sure you're installing system updates, and I'd suggest doing a check right now. Restarting your computer can help as well.
If you go into your activity monitor (located in the utilities) and give me the specs on what Spiral knights is using resource-wise, I'll have a better picture of what the issue is.
Providence: Java updates are included packaged with the system updates, so on a mac, as long as you install system updates, you should be up to date.
The mac client has historically had significantly less support, so bugs sometimes take a long time to fix :P Just a warning. I think there still may be issues with memory leaks in the code, as I get lag that ramps up over time, and I can see my memory taking a toll.
I also haven't been able to login on my Macs (2008 iMac, 2010 MBA, both with 10.6.7 and everything up-to-date) from home while running OS X since the big patch last week. After entering my login info, I get "Logging on..." forever. I have tried wiping both spiral installs (the application in my Applications folder, the client data from ~/Library/Application Support/spiral, all Java preferences from my ~/Library/Preferences folder, and the rsrc.config.*.plist files).
My projectx.log shows the following:
2011/05/25 23:19:14:832 INFO M$a.a: Logging to '/Applications/Spiral Knights.app/Contents/Resources/Java/./projectx.log'.
Loading: net.java.games.input.OSXEnvironmentPlugin
2011/05/25 23:20:26:773 INFO M$a.a: Connecting [host=game.spiralknights.com/184.73.192.155, port=47624]
2011/05/25 23:20:27:548 INFO M$a.a: Datagram connection established [port=47624]
The UDP connection is made, but that's all that happens. My client is definitely talking to the server, because if I enter an incorrect password, it happily tells me that.
I tried installing the Linux version for kicks. It runs, and has the same problem. I installed the Windows version in both bare-bones Wine and Crossover. They both have the same problem.
Playing on my MacBook Air anywhere else (friend's house, university) works with the Mac application bundle. For times when I'm at home, I've found that for whatever reason, playing under Parallels with Windows XP works. The performance isn't terrible, but it's definitely not as good.
I would believe it to be a Mac client issue, but:
a) the Mac client works fine on different connections, and
b) the Windows client has the same problem under Wine/Crossover from my home connection
I would believe it to be a networking issue, but the Windows client works fine from my home connection under Parallels.
So I'm not sure what to think. I do lean towards it being a network problem, but I don't see any issues with the way my router is configured (Linksys/Cisco WRT54G2).
Same router I have, same error
Since Thursday I haven't been able to launch the game from my desktop... When I click on the icon it just bounces and doesn't launch. I have deleted the files and re-download the program, at one point the patch downloaded as well as the "validation" worked but from that point on it doesn't want to work.
From what I understand a lot of Mac user are having the same issues. Has there been any news on what is the problem?
I am no techie person so I will be gratefully thankful for whoever figure out how to fix the problem.
Thank you :)
If you look at my post linked above, there's a 'solution'
I have since uninstalled and re-installed Spiral Knights, and also tried to launch it from this website (the Play! button). No dice, same problem, regardless.
