Are you typically in this channel?

When do you leave this channel?

How many of you actually read it when not looking for something specific?

Do you just read or do you paste as well?

If you paste, is it usually WTB or WTS?

left on first day

I left /trade on my first day of playing, because it is too noisy and tedious. Occasionally, updates or changes to new computers have caused me to see /trade again. As soon as I see it, I leave it.

Similarly, I left /zone on the first day too.

Go to spanish Haven. No one uses it. The few that even know it exists prefer to shop on english havens anyways.

I usually leave it on until I have to talk to somebody. then I leave it for a less spammy chat box.

I join trade chat every now and then if I have some extra crowns to spare or if I'm looking to sell something specific. I try to avoid just copy+pasting paragraphs, because that's the stuff people glaze over. Just need one clean line, and with an offer someone could actually be interested in/afford. Most of my offers are random accessories that I got for a steal on the AH (Spiked Mohawk for 10k? Hells yes!).

Most recently, I've used Trade Chat a lot to turn my excess Crimsonite and Luminite into Maskeraith Sprite food (not directly, of course). In the past, I've used it to find deals on Anamorocks or Mod Calibrators en masse. Occasionally you can find some nice accessories for a cheaper price than the AH. If you're looking for a specific accessory, you have a pretty good shot of finding it if you just post a quick "WTB" offer (or check the AH).

In general I just skim it, to see if anything reaches my 20k-ish price range that I may be interested in.

Now if I'm trying to actually talk with someone, then usually I close the chat, and by default I keep it closed.

I usually make fun of people in there, picking on spelling and grammar and generally just making puns over what people say.
I post song lyrics and answer people's questions in trade channel and in general try to spark naughty conversations :P

Well it's always fun to screw with people in trade chat. Sometimes I just undercut people who make absurd offers, even if I don't actually have the item they're selling.

I do the same thing

I do the same thing sometimes. Selling items that don't exist, seeing how many noobs PM me for the free items. Someone demanded that I give them that free Lumber I was giving away.

Or selling 5 Books to see how many people believe it and PM me. Fun times trolling around the trade chat.

Hahahahhahaha! xD

Back to the point, what we need is a hide chat button! I did suggest it once and not many people seen it but they liked it. It then sunk to the bottem of the suggestions beside the dead threads in the suggestions... ;_;

@Fallen-Night

The whole chat system needs a revamp, everyone knows that :P
There's a point on it in my collab suggestion list.

I just stay clear of things that make it impossible to read any guild chat or PMs if I go afk for more than 5 minutes...
