Edit:The average Black Cat spawn rate is 23.6% per level among 14 people. There are Roughly 20 cats per candlestick keep,so there is about a 1.2% chance for a Black Kat to spawn instead of a regular Kat.

So the odds are, that you have to go through 5,000-10,000 Kats before you find a book of Dark Ritual. 1%*1%-2%

Going to try another 100 on Normal to see if it changes anything.

So far, the average Spawn rate with the above info given is 18.4% roughly 20% of encountering Black cat per level.
Don't forget the drop rate of the book, multiplied with the spawn rate of the kat ;3
Don't judge spawn rate per run, rather judge spawn rate, say, per 1000 kats.
Not sure if this is right, but is there a 1.5% chance of receiving a book?
Black kat spawn rate is 1 in 100 cats, assuming average of 20 kats per candlestick keep.
If book rate is as Skyguarder says, then you would have to go through 6,600 cats to find a book, if book drop rate is 1% then 10,000 cats to find a book.
if you find 20 cats per candlestick keep, then you would have to go through 500 times if book drop rate is 1%, assuming it takes you 5 minutes per candlestick keep, 2500 minutes, after 41.6 hours of straight searching you would end up with a book.

Did my own set of tests on this. 100 Candlestick Keep levels (50 Weight of Darkness/ 50 Alone in the Dark) on elite. Every Kat and Black Kat counted, which wasn't as hard as I'd expected it to be.
Summed up:
In 100 levels there were 30 Black Kats out of about 2170 Kats, no books.
Black Kats seem to have around a 1% chance of spawning instead of normal ones. (1.38% with this)
1 in 72 kats were Black Kats
Average kats per level is 22.
Lowest amount of kats on a level was 7, highest was 36.
Highest amount of levels gone without finding a Black Kat was 9.

OK after the following information, the average spawn rate of the black rate is 21.9% among 13 people.
Black Kats seem to spawn the same amount in Weight of Darkness, Alone in the Dark, and the Arcade.
Thanks Polyphony, also, how many books did you find over those 100 runs of yours.
After encountering about 15 kats I obtained a book of dark rituals, as for finding kats, 20% sounds about right, I've been doing Silver sun gate, tier 3 candlestick on normal over and over.
Edit:
I did 5 prestige missions, so thats 20 pages, I had 41 pages when I found the book, so thats 7 more kats. 12 kats total.
I got a book after only 12 kats.
A Black Kat Dropped a Philoso Feather for me, still no book :/
Today playing more then 6hours gave me 3 black kats a total of 12 tokens.
That's how broken this is.

All alone in the dark mission, elite mode today, got around 3-5 on the clockworks level but didn't count on there since not always I did both depths

After that I got bored and did random missions around, no books yet.
About books, that's what I gathered.
1st book: 12th BK in 64th CSK level
2nd book: 88th BK in 354th CSK level
Overall 2 books/107 BKs, 2/432 CSK depths
Seems like it's ~2% chance to get it from BK (at least for me).
Either there's some bug with certain missions, or the "increased spawn rate" was a lie. I killed like 100 kats yesterday and didn't spawn one single black kat outside of the daily prestige mission.
I am so sick and tired!
I just killed a black kat on depth 24 of alone in the dark and if it wasnt enough to be the only one i saw today IT DID NOT DROP ANY PAGE!!!
And i looked around and checked and rechecked for invisible pages or what not and NOTHING.

didnt got a book this event (got 5 previous event) maybe karma didnt like myself being greedy :P but got almost the same amount of tokens for tribe fetishes and kat hats like the previous event.
THat is BS your book drop rate 1-2%. If that was true I would have 4-8 books..... yes im saying I've killed OVER 400 kats both events combined. Its all lies. I'll tell u the true drop rate.....OOO picked a handful of players and said ONLY these players can get the book of dark rituals mat. If you think thats just ridiculous how else do you explain how everyone who gets it has MULTIPLE copies after very little searching and players like me and all the others LITERALLY do nothing but kill Kats for a week and have no books to show for it after 2 whole events.

I haven't actually tracked the numbers but I have to have killed at least 250 kats without encountering a single Black one outside the prestige missions.
@ clwnbaby: funny thing you said that because my friend said the same thing but in other way (but he said that due how some people got the book on the first try, something that happened to me on the previous event, after the first book, i got another book every 5 black kats).
but anyway how OOO would pick up those people? the last event i didnt something special, but i remember i bought an E-Pass before the event, maybe that was a bit of influence to pick me up for being some of the "lucky ones" to get 5 books on the previous event? well who know. but if that were true its kinda interesting.
(but i still thinking about i wasnt lucky this time :P)
I though they were rewarding the PTPers but I have plenty of friends who are PTP and they still dont got one.

1.5% chance to get the BoDR from BK (at least for me).

About 110 Black Kats met (342 tokens without completing all the prestige mission)
About 500-600 depths completed
Full speed run : no monsters killed except of BK and small arena, no boxe opened, no heat obtained because I didn't go to the ele at the end of the depth
No book at all !
One week being farming each time i can (I have a job, I can only play during the evening ... :/ ), and i didn't get any book ....
I am frustrated .... ><'
