well, i am taking a lot of shadow dmg from fast enemies when i play, and i don't have any shadow helm/armor
any set suggestions?
Any shadow def set?
Any discussion of armor should begin with which weapons you use: swords? guns? swords with a occasional guns? bombs and guns equally? What?
For example, if you're really into guns then Shadowsun is a great set, both for your defensive needs and your offensive desires. But we don't know whether you're into guns.
If you use swords, you want Snarbolax gear (admittedly, it's shadow lair gear and may not be accessible at your level of play). If you use guns, you want Shadowsun. All other shadow gear is inferior and has niche usage at best.
If you hybrid, these are still the best options, and you'll end up needing to get both.
If you aren't 5* yet you have two choices. Either accept that you're going to be brutalized by shadow enemies until you finally achieve sweet release from that at the 5* level (this is honestly what most of us do), or get Skelly - just keep in mind that Skelly is very much inferior at 5* and you'll have no reason to bother upgrading it to that level when it is surpassed by Shadowsun/Snarbolax.
The Skelly helmet and suit are certainly inferior to Snarbolax, but let me put in a good word for the Skelly shield. Freeze+undead and freeze+fiend levels are not uncommon (Heart of Ice!), and Crest of Almire breaks quickly in those, due to its lack of freeze protection (presumably).
Try the kat hats. No armour has as much shadow defence as those while at the same time offering offensive bonuses.
Well, I am a new "vanguard" so i have a few 5* items, but i have some 4* weapons
I always use a sword for shadow-related tiers, Glacius and DA are my 5* swords, but I also have blazebrand and dark thorn. The second wep is a backup sword, a handgun or a Shivermist. The handgun normally is Giga or Blitz (Giga is for turrets, uv construct high. Blitz is for annoying fiends).
The problem is with the fiends. In those tiers I use vog cub set(sometimes with a silvermail, only shadow def item i have)with blackened crest, and the DA or DTB as primary, but I can't make combos or run away because I take a lot of dmg (Level 3) and I am dead.
I was thinking in a Divine/Valkyrie set as a first set (cancel the fire weakness and have +dmg fiend VH), because i am a bit lazy for buying a SK for a SL and get the snarbolax set.
@Boop : the skelly is a good idea for a shiled as a 2nd option for freeze/shadow levels. The shield status resistance makes a shield more durable when it recives "status" damage (dust zombie stun thing, i.e.), so is a good idea for get it.
@Zeddy : kat hats?, interesting
@Kalaina-Elderfall : i an very away from a shadow lair for the moment, but snarbolax looks very useful
@Fangel : that's right, but i have an aggresive and laggy gameplay, so i take some (lots) hits when i play.
If Shadow defense is all you care about, nothing rivals Skelly set.
The Snarbolax set is good for shadow defense, plus it gives you a rather large sword damage bonus. If fiends are the only problematic enemy, the valkyrie set might suit your needs (my personal favorite!), but its sister set, the armor of the fallen, gives an attack speed increase at the cost of your damage vs fiend. If you're in tier 3, then it may be worth looking into the divine set, as it gives split shadow and elemental defenses, so those pesky random constructs don't ruin your day!
I don't know if this is really helping, but your defenses should reflect your play style. If none of the above options really suit you, the Skelly set will probably help, especially with all the freeze and poison gates in the arcade right now.
And if you don't have one already, try out a shadow resistant shield! With the right shield and dodging ability, any armor set can counter the situation!
