How many of you do runs only to find a large/shiny of the mineral you don't need to make the pet food you want, and when you do find the one you want it's always small. I rage'd a few times when my friend got a large dark matter and i got a small luminite.

Minerals are shared.
Everything is shared so if your friend picked up a large piece of dark matter, you would've obtained a large piece (4 pieces) too. Only once you all stepped on the elevator of course.

I agree with Poopsie's strategy. Just pick up the biggest red, yellow, or purple mineral that you can. If it's not the one you wanted, it doesn't matter, because you will effectively trade it for the one you wanted. (Fallen-Night is of course correct too, about how mineral pick-up works.)

This is why you always go on full party runs with friends that need all 3 kinds of crystals, and get big everythings.

I had a run going of about 15
I had a run going of about 15 or so levels where I didn't find a single Luminite crystal, which has a way of stopping your Sprite leveling dead in its tracks. I think the random number generator has it out for me.

I rarely find any large
I rarely find any large Crimsonite crystals, but I pick up Luminite anyways, dat selling price for sera food

don't be. You can always trade pet food, if you can find the player. In my eyes, that's large + small luminites.
