So, who's brilliant idea was it to have recipes transmuting better fire crystals to lesser fire crystals effectively cost about twice as much as just buying them from the supply depot? Just wondering...

It does if you do the math

It does if you do the math and consider the value of ingredients. Figure this:

5 shining fire crystals = 35CE or ~2800 crowns 2100

3 radiant fire crystals = 45CE or ~3600 crowns + 500 transmuting fee = 4100 crowns

Not exactly double, but about 50% more based on a CE price of 8k per 100. Also, consider that those radiant crystals are more than likely not useless/surplus. Chances are, those radiant crystals you used to make shining crystals are going to come in handy later when that 4* item you're leveling becomes 5*. So, transmuting is not just a waste of crowns, but also resources.

I'm guessing devs don't think about these things when "adding content".

I have 1500 bound radiant

I have 1500 bound radiant fire crystals that I picked up while black kat hunting, and only 80 shinings. Not gonna run out of radiants anytime soon. The new recipes are a big help to me, since I don't tend to play where shining crystals drop. C:

What it is a waste of is time. Imagine you need 100 shinings to level up your 4* weapon and you have none.

That's twenty times watching the crafting animation.

You can skip the animation by hitting Escape.

I think the "brilliant idea"

I think the "brilliant idea" comes into play when the initial fire crystals are FREE. In other words, the crystal crafting system wasnt designed for you to buy the greater star fire crystal. It was designed for you to find them.

In other words, say you need 3* fire crystals but don't want to run t2. You could turn your FREE, keyword: FREE, 4* fire crystals into the lower star. Or, craft your 5* into 4* and those into 3*.

People buy crystals from supply depot? If only I could sell the literal thousands I'm hoarding....

as mentioned in the previous

as mentioned in the previous couple of 'new crystal recipes are useless' threads.
these recipes are not for people who are progressing, they are for those who only run t3 and want to make new gear.

i believe 3 rings should make content and items that is only for me, I don't care about any of the other players who need help.
me me me
everything else are just 'brilliant' ideas

First, thanks for tip on

First, thanks for tip on skipping crafting animation. I didn't know that one and it's going to come in handy.

I have a ton of Radiant Crystals, too. But, considering it takes approximately 500 of them to fully level a 5* item if you're shooting for 100% success and possibly forge boxes, I'll be holding on to mine. 1200? That's only 2 1/2 5* items.

Also, consider the crown cost alone. I have hundreds of Radiant Crystals and less than two dozen Shining. If I were to hypothetically get even half my Shining Crystals from transmuting, I'm easily spending 50k in crowns, not to mention the near 200 Radiant Crystals I burned to do so. Not that 50k is necessarily a fortune, but I can think of many better uses for it.

So, while I can't say that the recipes are completely useless, they are crap. A bit of a timesaver, but a huge waste of resources. You come out way more ahead just by grinding S5.

Go grind or go buy.

I did a little conversion of RL money to in game currency on the idea of wages about a year ago. This was based upon my way of making crowns/CE, which was "faster" than what it would have been to formally alt drag in FSC. It worked itself out to be around $5 an hour. At that rate, I could do better with a minimum wage job and buy CE with that and not only save time but also effort. Thus enjoy the game better and be more free to do what I want in game with the time that I have.

I turn most of my 4* crystals into 3* crystals to heat 3* items for forge boxes. It works. I got a 3-uv ticket when I got a lvl 5 sealed sword.

That's not my point. I'm (relatively) fine with grinding. I much prefer it over wasting my resources on transmuting. This isn't about grinding. It's about a really badly designed element of the game.

Time<------>Money
(grind) (craft)
Which would you like to waste?

I added the bits in parenthesis for clarity. The thing is, grinding isn't a waste of time. Grinding is the game, at least the PvE end of it. Also, grinding gets you not just orbs, but mats, crowns, heat, sparks, etc. So, it's like you could either grind for orbs to level your weapons. Or, you can blow your resources to shortcut it and then, what? Go back to grinding.

I turn most of my 4* crystals into 3* crystals to heat 3* items for forge boxes. It works. I got a 3-uv ticket when I got a lvl 5 sealed sword.

That's pretty clever. I never thought of that. Once I finish building the gear I want for my arsenal, I'm going to do that. Then again, by then there will probably be another update that screws that up.

Its primary use is so we can

Its primary use is so we can down-grade all of the Radiants we've hoarded from FSC into Shinings so we can level up 4* stuff and FSC grinding/crafting/heating is technically revived.

Pff, why run FSC when there are bountiful freeze arenas?
