With all the threads popping up, it's been difficult to find an answer. However, a guildmate told me that he heard that it DOES get affected, and I wanted to get a straight answer here.
So, IS book drop rate affected by difficulty?

Unless someone official has said otherwise, which I'm pretty sure hasn't happened, post #4 on this thread seems to be the most logical answer we've got. I don't think the books are common enough for anyone to have a very good sample size to find actual numbers, though I could be wrong.
Well, the book is like any 5* material. It's just extremely hard to get because black kats are so rare and there is a large assortment of materials already.
5* materials drop at a slightly higher rate on Elite, so it's (somewhat) safe to say that the book is slightly more likely to drop on Elite.
