I always hear people complaining about Auto-Target in Lockdown so my suggestion is to always have it enabled with no way of turning it off. I honestly think this is the best idea to stop the hate.

Why not just simply disable it for all? It's already unbalanced enough with those guys that have triple-UVs on their swords, Auto-Aim would just literally destroy everyone.
Also, it makes gunners worse.

Haters gonna hate regardless

Auto-target is optional. So is whining about it.
People who whine about auto-target will just find something else to whine about. If auto-target is really that cheap, they are free to use it themselves.
Some people actually aim better without auto-target, so I don't think it should be mandated either way.

Analogies:
1) We should give everyone trinkets (or no trinkets) automatically in LD
2) We should make everyone striker (or any other class) in LD
