I hope this is the right forum for this.

Hi all, I recently broke through the tier 2 barrier and I'm having a lot more fun now that I can actually afford energy. When I first started playing the game someone walked up to me, said they liked my name, and gave me a "Brandish", considering how much higher level it was then the content at the time, I haven't had to replace it since, however now I am finding myself in need of a bit more punch.

I bought the recipe for "Iceburst Brandish" off the auction house, and I find myself regretting it, I spent 9k on it, only finding out later that it is 4k on depth 13. I also noticed a recipe for a 3 star sword that does upgraded normal damage then the brandish, and uses Brandish as a reagent.

Basically what I'm asking is, would it be worthwhile to forsake my 9k (I already used the recipe, so there is no chance of a refund) and buy the recipe for the normal damage sword? (which also does higher damage to slimes) or should I build the iceburst brandish? Or maybe even go for an entirely different line of swords.

The damage mechanics in this game are a bit off-putting for me, so its very hard for me to gauge which weapon does more damage, any help or advice is highly welcome.

Do not, I repeat DO NOT build it. It is a dead end item. I personally do not like ice brandish but it's not bad and can be upgraded further. So if you already spent your cash on that, you may as well go that way.

This is where the wiki comes in nicely. Pages like Damage and Brandish will give you lots of information, including damage type, monster weaknesses, recipe price and what upgrades are currently available.

If you already have the

If you already have the recipe for the Ice Brandish, go for it, you can eventually upgrade it to Glacius, and it will do extra damage to undead and constructs, along the way, plus the ice brandishes charge attack can freeze enemies on hit (helpful with phantoms on graveyars or to lessen the amount of enemies going for you for a moment in arenas/danger rooms)

the fire path of the brandish is basically the same but it will set the enemies on fire with the charge attack doing more damage over time, it's just a matter of which effect your play style is better with

the shadow brandish line is also a nice one (nightblade -> silent nightblade -> acheron), the charge attack does not have any status effect on it, but it's great to deal quickly with slimes and gremlins

and about the cautery sword (the one with extra normal damage) you would be better off with a calibur upgrading it to leviathan blade eventually, more damage and a better charge attack
