I'm just looking for some experienced input.
I'm a "pure" Gunner meaning I'm too lazy to get a Chaos set and am using the Shadowsun set, which only features damage+ with no charge reduction.
I'm doing FSC with a Hail Driver ATM and was looking to upgrade to a pure damage gun.
Would the 6 shot mag be better or would the ricochet pseudo-AoE be better?

Alchemers all the way.
Too bad I've had people tell me alchemers suck, that ap does more damage per shot aaaannnndd over time. I was suitably sad.
Until he also said alchemers only bounce 1/3 of the time.

The short answer is that alchemers are harder to use than Argent or Polaris, but they do higher damage, once you master the ricochets. Here are some data to quantify that idea, albeit imperfectly:

Even though Alchems are more powerful, I use AP as my main gun simply because I have more fun with a larger clip and fast bullets.
AP has longer range than regular Driver's shoots, which makes it great for levels with lots of switches.
I find the Nova Driver is better for pure Gunslingers, especially if you're limited on weapon slots. Nova Driver will do far more damage to larger groups of enemies, without the disruptive nature of something like a Polaris. The only time I use an AP as a Gunslinger is to finish off stragglers after a few Nova Driver charge shots (and because I have 4 weapon slots usually).
