Alright I've been playing SK for little over a week now, and I've tried to find my preferred choice of equipment, now I just need to find the right items and alchemy paths.

So what I'm hoping, is that one of you kind equipment experts out there, could give me some guidance as to what I might want to equip?

My most preferred weapon is the gun. Right now I'm using the Super Blaser, which is a cool gun, however I would like one that shoots more often and doesn't slow me down quite as much, if that is possible?

When it comes to swords (which is my secondary weapon) I'm quite satisfied with my Fireburst Brandish. It should just hit hard and wide.

I still haven't figured out how important it is to equip for and against every damage type, and therefore I still don't know if I should have more than one set and in that case how many sets.

I'd say this. Elemental

I'd say this.

Elemental weapons-
Combuster - 5* fireburst brandish
Argent peacemaker - 6bullet clip fast fire rate

Shadow
Sentenza - 6 bullet clip fast fire rate
Archeon - shadow version of brandish

Piercing
Final Flourish - Quick attack speed
Blitz needle or calihan - depends on what you want. I'd say get blitz needle

Since you use one sword and one gun, you might find my detailed sword guide helpful. To understand what I'm about to say, you should certainly read the first two sections (Basic Concepts and Mixing Weapon Types). Also, most guns slow you down while shooting.

  • One plan is to keep your elemental sword (Combuster) and a normal gun (probably Valiance or Supernova). This is a decent setup. Its major drawback is that it's what you're doing now, and you wanted a change.
  • Another plan is Combuster and Argent Peacemaker (a fast-firing gun). The problem with this plan is that both of your weapons are elemental.
  • Another plan is Combuster and Sentenza (the other fast-firing gun). This is fine, except that you might have a little trouble against howlitzers. (Not really. I use Combuster on them all the time. But Sentenza will do nothing against them.)
  • Another plan is to use Argent Peacemaker with a different sword. I would recommend a piercing sword. A shadow sword would also work. (Don't throw away your Combuster. Save it, in case you want to use it again. It's a great sword.)
  • Another plan is to get more serious about gunning, and switch to using two guns. By the way, when you do get serious about gunning, you may find yourself using alchemers. They are not easy to use, and their low-star versions are not very powerful, but their high-star versions are very powerful in the hands of a skilled player.
  • Another plan is to start using three weapon slots. Then you can carry an elemental sword and an elemental gun. Just make sure that your third weapon is not elemental.

I'm quite satisfied with my Fireburst Brandish. It should just hit hard and wide.

As I said, Combuster is great. But its swing is not really wide. See my sword guide for width notes.

I still haven't figured out how important it is to equip for and against every damage type, and therefore I still don't know if I should have more than one set and in that case how many sets.

Your first goal should be to get one set of weapons that can work in general. For armor, you may eventually want to have pieces that protect against all damage types. When choosing armor, go for sets that give offensive bonuses to the weapons that you care about: Wolver for swords, Gunslinger for guns, and Demo for bombs (and Chaos for everything).

Bearing in mind that you're a new player, I suggest finding a guild or someone experienced to take you on some Jelly King runs. The reason is that defeating the Jelly King nets you Jelly token, which can be traded in for an Antigua (a 3-star gun). The Antigua is a 6-shooter gun that affords you high mobility, although it's a piercing gun, so Slimes and Constructs will be highly resistant to it.

Since you value mobility and attack rate, the Antigua's the way to go. It's the only thing I can think of off hand that's faster than your Super Blaster. The Alchemer guns are fairly affordable, but only fire 2 shots. Which can feel quite frustrating.

Thank you very much

Thanks to all of you.

I've taken a dive into reading the guides, I aim on going 3 slots with 2 guns and 1 sword, as that sounds like a bunch of fun.

I don't mind keeping a normal gun.. I don't have a great plan myself, which is why I ask for your help, but as Awoogawooga pointed out, I do value mobility and attack rate :)
