The Striker Class Seems Broken...

As much as I love this class there are some things that are clearly wrong and I know other people have noticed it as well. All that excessive movement and those quick sword swings seem to have very odd effects on gameplay. I imagine this is because of latency issues that all the movement is exploiting.

I've watched my blade pass through players as if they were ghosts and have gotten destroyed by players that could damage me before they were actually within range of me till a fraction of a second later. All of these things happen so fast and maybe most people don't notice but who knows.

I'm not one to suggest how to fix this and I really rather not suggest nerfs but hopefully something is done about it.

Its not striker.

It's the server, the range in LD is all kinds of crazy now.
But I'm sure OOO will do their best to fix it soon.

So I've been playing for a

So I've been playing for a few hours and I remember that I forgot to mention another hilarious lag effect. This typically happens when I am the one playing striker. Sometimes players will kill me while they are facing the wrong direction and I get rubberbanded to in front of them. "where I was on their screen I guess?" This happens all the time and I know it's not me because I have a very fast broadband connection.

The thing about this is that it's very easy to just confuse it with common knockback effects but certainly noticeable if you pay attention.

It's latency. You don't see things accurately, so getting hit from out of range becomes a norm. Such is life.

It's not solely dependent on your connection, it's also the server itself and your ping to it. I, for instance, have very little lag (usually) since I have both a fast internet connection (35mb ^/v) and live close to the server, so I get ~15ms ping. If you live far away, your ping will be higher and your client's actions will be more out of sync with the server. This translates to you not actually being where you think you are.

It's not about how horrible your connection, but about how horrible it is compared to other people's. If you play against people with connection similar to yours, you won't feel so much of a handicap. Maybe you often lag kill people who have even worse connection than you.

A work-around is to hone your prediction skills. If you can anticipate their moves, you can act "before" they get to you (as you see it on your screen), and the timing might work out. It's half luck, but it helps. Also when it does works, you feel very pro :P

It's not about how horrible your connection, but about how horrible it is compared to other people's.

I thought dealing with latency in SK was a you-vs-server thing, not a you-vs-each-individual-player thing (ex: gunz, cs).

Is it not?

Technically speaking, it's both. The speed between you and the server affects your performance, but the speed between someone else and the server affects them and you, as positional updating occurs seperately.

Regardless, as many have said, the issue is latency.
