"Hello everybody. This is Utrex. Today, I will begin looking at the stratums of the Clockworks and will help fellow knights prepare ahead! I will notify knights of severe weather warnings, like the big snow storm we had a while back. I'll try to establish a weather team and help you all out, and we'll also notify you all about some updates. This is Utrex, signing off."

EDIT: A guild called "S W C" will be created. If anybody would like to join, feel free. There are no restrictions, so anybody can join. Current Status: Not Active

So what is "weather"?

Spiral Knights weather is a type of a weather system that occurs within the Arcade. It is unknown, but crystals that form within the Clockworks, like the Dark Matter, Valestone etc. seem to cause strange reactions within the Clockworks if deposited inside dormant gates. These "reactions" create different status themes, including Shock, Fire, Freeze, and Poison. There are also Beast, Construct, Fiend, Gremlin, Slime, and Undead, but these are formed when Chief Geo Knight Wegner examines incoming skydomes, which he observes everyday. Wegner has installed "Sensors" around elevators so that he can determine the stratums. You can see these updated by going into the Arcade and looking at the "Stratum Stack" within Haven. Wegner also explains different theme recipes that YOU and your friends can try to change the theme to prevent severe weather from happening!

What are "Power Distortions"?

If you've ever deposited minerals in certain gates, you may see some depths that contain power distortions. These depths do not allow you to deposit minerals. Why? These power distortions form from specific depths which contain "boss enemies", such as the Gloaming Wildwoods. It has been unknown why these "boss" levels distort the depths.

SK doesn't have "Weather". Any given depth with have the same weather 24/7.

Question

The weather would be status?
Like the freeze levels we get every day?

You are experiencing a PICNIC ERROR!

Soo...

Will you be talking about which level is currently cycled at for each depth?

Getting science on how the depths change?

/e is interested.

Nope. I'm only talking about

Nope. I'm only talking about severe weather changes. and @ Trats-Romra: Yes. Freeze, for example, is weather.

If, for example, you look at the stratums, and you see that the stratum shows all fire signs, I/We will issue a Heat Wave Warning.

Why would anyone care about this? It's obviously going to be mostly freeze for a long time. We've only just started the Ice Age.

Don't forget the flu.

There are poison-themed levels too.

Um we can read gate maps...there's no reason to remind us.

I don't see why anyone has to ruin the fun. /shrugs.

Though you'd get more people interested if you had an actual end goal that could possibly aid players in the future. Weather stations gather data and observe recurring patterns after all.

The reason i'm creating this system is because:

- Lots of players do not understand what stratums do, and what they mean.

- An overly amount of players don't access the Arcade, therefore they don't know what level types there will be. Instead, they access the missions interface and access the arcade through there, and just play the levels that are in the arcade. No, really. Nobody in my older guild (with 98 players) knew about stratums like I do.

In fact, my message for SWC is "Having trouble with reading stratums? Are you too lazy to walk over to the Arcade and read the straum column? Are you wondering why there are so many of the same types of levels over and over again? Do not fear, SWC is here to help! Access this page anytime you want to recieve the latest updates about gate weather! We'll give out weather watches and warnings to guide you fellow knights in the Clockworks. So next time you'll access the Arcade, you'll be prepared for sure!"

I'm still working on how to calculate my weather watches and warnings. I have it actually jotted down in my head, but I still need a little more improvements here and there. Hopefully you all see what i'm trying to tell you.

- Lots of players are too lazy to actually READ the tutorials in every mission...
- An "overly amount" of players only care about money and grinding even if it means doing the same exact mission 5 times a day

Don't encourage them.

It doesn't matter whether you encourage them or not. They'll still do it. True though. If you don't encourage them then they might not go through with it. But that only applies if they aren't already entrenched so deep that they cannot conceive of escaping.

On a completely different note; Maybe you could provide weather reports in addition to warnings? i.e. "Due to the fact that pets have been recently released and that they require pet food to level up, food which requires minerals, Red Purple and Yellow minerals are expected to become scarce in Gate construction. They won't go away entirely, just become incredibly rare to see in any great quantities. Here's Andy with the detailed breakdown of why this is. Andy?"

It's not weather. Recently there was either some sort of crazy solar flare, or some contraption deep in the clockworks is going critical probably due to Gremlin tinkering, so the Gremlins have arranged a large number of Cooling Chambers in order to keep Cradle cool so that the high temperatures don't warp the infrastructure or damage any delicate devices.

http://wiki.spiralknights.com/User:Biozim98/Lore#Cooling_Chamber

This has been happening since the arrival of Battle Sprites, so perhaps the Gremlins are mucking around with some of them that we were unable to retrieve and converting them into some sort of evil super-sprite to DESTROY US ALL!

And don't mention that you can find the stratums as well, oh, and you can even deposit from the Mission interface!

Wow! I was unaware that you could look at gates under construction from the Mission tab!

What's the point when Stratum themes change multiple times during construction, and then often take a sharp change in mineral configurations a minute before activation, rendering your efforts of "guessing" what the theme is going to be, completely moot.

oh, and you can even deposit from the Mission interface!

help knights prepare without the need to walk over to the Arcade.

So in the end they have to go to the arcade anyway. Hooray for self-cancelling statements!
