Why is energy Cheaper to buy on steam then the normal client?

As the title says, buying energy through steam costs me 9.95 per 3500.
however, when i log onto the normal client with a normal account made on this site, i pay 12.04.

They're both listed in $ - And the conversed transaction shows 7.44 ( In euros ) taken off my account when energy is purchased through steam.
Yet, 12.04 would convert to about 9.12 in euros.

I don't get this? what am i missing.

Because you're in the same state as OOO is thus you pay Tax. I have the same problem when I pay through steam.

Technically Kong is best, because:

If you buy 200 kreds (7500 E), Kong gives you 25 extra, worth 750 E. Pretty much more free energy the more kreds you buy.

But on the other hand,

the kongregate client sucks, big time. Best to use an alt there and send it to your main.
