I just wanted to know what weapons or gear everybody uses.
What Weapons do you Guys Use?
Mighty cobalt set, Blazebrand, Grand flourish, Faust, and Master blaster.
-EL
With the price changes, I have no choice but to settle with CTR High Leviathan and CTR High Shivermist Buster. I'd like more, but the prices are too high and I need something tried and true.
@Fenix tell me about it. I was in the process of building 3 more nitronomes w/ different UVs lol..
not anymore though :<
Working towards Leviathan, before update I had plans on getting a Gran Faust but that's not much of an option now.
Leviathan (currently non-UV, ragecrafted tons of fail Caliburs for a high+ CTR)
Blitz Needle (high to attack speed)
Radiant Sun Shards (high to CTR, awesome in Citadel)
Big Angry Bomb (high to CTR)
Volt Driver (very high to construct, WTB Storm Driver recipe)
Those are what I use, usually the first 4.
Leviathan blade, of course! But I keep cryo driver (soon to be hail driver, I hope) or umbra driver on the side. Because of resistances and because element-themed strata have mixed monsters, and because umbra dominates in most danger rooms regardless of the level's regular enemies... well, I may have to open an extra slot to carry both at the same time. Once I'm all 5* I'll see how it goes with hail driver + leviathan in the citadel... maybe make a 5* fire brandish or a divine avenger. But for general utility, can't beat leviathan blade, even if it isn't the best for either boss, it's better than either DA or GF when taken to the -wrong- boss, so y'know. And I like my alchemers for sniping the healers and gun puppies among other uses... gun kiting arenas &c, when it gets too messy to reliably charge up levi for crowd control.
Vile Striker and Cryo Driver most of the time. I'll sometime swaps the Cryo Driver out for a Mega Magnus if there will be lots of beasts or devilites, or for the Super Blaster if I have absolutely no idea what I'll see. 75% of the time though, Cryo Driver will do the trick.
Blazebrand
Fierce Flourish
Fiery Atomizer
Fiery Pepperbox
Firo Driver
coming soon...an electric theme LOL :D
Jelly Helm, Vitasuit Plus, Jelly shield(soon to be replaced by plate shield), Blaster and Cutter.
I AM A N00B.
Armors: Wolver/Dusker/Ash-tail Coat & Cap, Angelic Raiment (trying to get it up to Seraphic), Fused/Heavy Demo Helm/Suit. I actually use my Wolver set much more than the Dusker or Ash-tail right now, because I'm trying to level up weapons fully.
Shields: Plate Shield, Wise Owlite Shield, Swiftstrike Buckler, Firebreak Shield. The Owlite is a good line of shields from start to 4* and most likely all the way to 5* (I've not laid hands on any 5* things), and I'm finding that at 2* the Plate shield is wonderful for T1 and upper T2. I urge trying to get a recipe from Vatel instead of starting with the Force Buckler, but if you have to, the Force Buckler is decent for a 1* shield.
Swords: Fireburst Brandish, Iceburst Brandish, Nightblade and Silent Nightblade, Swift Flourish, Khorovod—though I'm thinking of using a Kamarin again, for the Stun on hit rather than Stun on charge. When I was still working up to a 2* sword like Brandish, I used Hot/Searing Edge and that was quite a good sword for 1*/2*.
Bombs: Master Blast Bomb, Freezing Atomizer, Fiery Vaporizer Mk II, Graviton, Radiant Sun Shards. I tend not to use a Toxic Vaporizer, because freezing or setting things on fire is much more fun. Graviton is purely for the first two floors of the Royal Jelly Palace; isn't all that great elsewhere. Firecracker is a great 1* bomb, and rivals a lot of 2* and even 3* bombs.
Guns: the Blaster series deal nice amounts of normal damage, and the alchemers all deal nice amounts of elemental damage. Both types of guns are good general accompaniment guns for the swordsperson or bomber. The more specialized guns I have no experience with unfortunately.
I usually go with a 4-weapon build of some sort. It's nice to have weapons that cover each of elemental, shadow, and piercing damage, as monsters are weak to different types of damage. Exploiting that weakness makes a huge difference in the amount of damage you do per hit/shot. And it's useful to carry something that just deals large amounts of normal damage for the times when you can't reach your Flourish fast enough.
Of late I've been going 3-swords, 1-gun. But I sometimes do 1-sword, 3-bombs (Khorovod for the pure heavy amounts of normal damage it did, a Crystal Bomb for ranged, a Blast Bomb for general destruction, and either the Freezing or the Fiery Atomizer/Vaporizer).
... long answer, I know.
ETA: currently Fireburst Brandish, Swift Flourish, Nightblade, and pick-any-alchemer.
Currently? Wearing a full Jelly Set (To upgrade to a Brute Jelly set) and juggling between the Shadowtech Alchemer, Autogun, Flourish, Brandish (UV, Low Bonus Damage Against Slimes), Searing Edge and probably a Calibur.
Ascended Calibur. I love the charge attack :D
Shivermist Buster - supports said charge attack; also protects me when I'm not playing stupidly.
That's what I have for two slots. I have recently made use of slot 3 given to me by a friend. So with that I have used:
Nitronome. So I can actually have a bomb where I can do damage. Also its funny to see if I can really pull off using it without moving a muscle. That usually doesn't work but its fun to try.
Bonus: Faust. Spur of the moment thing, I don't like slow swords but I have gotten some use out of it.
Man, i was waiting for a decent avenger/faus uv too. That's out of the question now.
Leviathan
Acheron
Firo Driver ...son to be Magma Driver.
Freeze Atomizer ...soon to be shivermist.
Still leveling the last two though since I just got them w/ decent UV on the Shivermist. Also finally got a Troika CTR and then a brandish > Combuster high atk speed UV. Was also saving my brandish ctr for a Glacius. Also want to finish my blitzneedle...ARGG i hate you patch! I had it all planned out and you boned me.
This what I get for buying recipes first and waiting for a decent UV item.
Well I'm pretty new so I don't have anything to good, but right now I'm using:
Super blaster with high uv against gremlins. (Is this a good uv?)
Defender shield. (Needed a 2* shield lol.)
Cobalt armor (some uv I can't think of atm).
Magic Hood. (Thought hoods looked cool probably going to replace it.)
I'm still trying to figure out exactly what I'm aiming for. Right now I really only have valiance down for something I want since I want a weapon to cover any monster and then work on specifics.
Weaponry
Leviathan
Master Blaster (will become Valiance soonish)
Toxic Atomizer (will become Venom Veiler soonish)
Trinkets
Tri-heart x2
Armor Set 1:
-Volcanic Salamander (UV: Stun resist low)
-Grey Feather Cowl (UV: Fire resist low)
-Grey Owlite Sheild
Armor Set 2:
-Skolver Coat (UV: Elemental protection High)
-Divine Veil (UV: Normal protection medium)
-Grey Owlite Sheild.
And no, I'm not hugely elite. Put plainly, I'm kind of a klutz at gameplay, and went for nice gear to compensate for it. Trying to improve, though.
so how does the levi and shivermist combo work?
freeze and then charge attack?
@ SwordSaint
For me it's not really a combo but Shivermist always help in situations where you need CC (helps a lot in pug arena/danger rooms). You could freeze charge attack or just kill them outright. Sometimes frozen mobs get clump up so they get knocked into each other/rooted again so you get the full 3 hits in from the 360 spin. Levi is just good all around on anything and the charge attack is imba.
I always have a Master Blast Bomb (eventually will be nitronome). There is nothing more satisfying than a big boom that leaves behind a room full of coins.
With that, I mix in the following:
Silversix or Blackhawk (depending upon stratum type)
Winmillion or Vile Striker (depending upon my mood and whether I expect to encounter greavers - winmillion is better against greavers)
Freezing Vaporizer, Graviton Bomb, or Ash of Agni (usually freezing because I run with someone else who carries the Ash, graviton is fun but slow)
The main thing I will say is that the additional weapons slots will add more real performance to your character then anything else for the same price. Having a variety of 4* weapons is more useful then a single 5* in just about any situation. In a party, no player will always have the "right" weapon for a situation. That said, if you carry a load based on worst case scenarios, you know those are covered even in a pub.
More often then not, I use two swords and two guns which happen to cover all the damage types and three of the possible status effects;
Grand Faust / Final Flourish
When fighting slimes, be it a Jelly run, a room where a few silver slimes are mixed in, or a T3 Arena, nothing will substitute for a Faust. When fighting greavers or killing healers, nothing substitutes for a Flourish. Given that shock slimes and shock greavers are the things mostly likely to cause sudden and unavoidable death and healers are the mob most likely to grind an arena to a halt... One of these will kill anything in the game that you want to kill with a sword effectively.
Hail Driver / Volcanic Pepperbox
The value of freeze is unbelievable in a gun. This, matched with move and shoot, makes the Cryo line hard to match. Add in the charge which extends reach, will hurt things around corners without causing aggro, and does funny things to groups, and the Hail Driver is maybe the one gun everyone should have. The VP is more a matter of personal taste but also adds utility. The charge attack (which pulls enemies to you as they are hit and one hits more enemies then not in solo) lends it use in odd places. Assuming someone else has aggro, you can lay serious damage into anything in the game with a good margin of safety (like the big sword guys...) and ... well, some things need to be set on fire, effective or not. Again, one of these will kill anything in the game you want to kill with a gun, effectively.
The largest issue I have with this weapon set is it is slow to kill Constructs. That said, it is easy enough to Hail Driver them. Occasionally, there are some rooms where you wish for more CC. I have been known to sub in a grav or freeze bomb if I know this is likely to come up.
Dread Skelly Helm
Defends against shadow, and the poison and ice resist is nice too. (not to mention a med UV on piercing)
Vog Cub Coat
Make up for that fire weakness on the helm.
Volcanic Plate Shield
Because you can't have enough fire resistance.
Cold Iron Vanquisher
Eats undead for breakfast, matches my helm. (light UV on jellies)
Argent Peacemaker*
Used against constructs and the undead :P
khorovod with UV very high vs undead (thank you crafting gods for that stroke of luck :D) and cryo driver with a low ASI
i also have a fiery pepper box with a UV low vs constructs, but i like the cryo driver's rebounding shots and freezing action more, so it sees a lot more action.
Weapons
Leviathan (UV = medium CTR)
Valiance (UV = low damage vs fiends)
Sealed Sword, soon to be a DA :)
Set 1
Vog cub cap (UV = fire high)
Vog cub coat (UV = elemental low)
Set 2 / Costume
Valkyrie helm
Valkyrie coat (UV = sleep medium)
Shield
Grey Owlite Shield (UV = piercing low)
Trinket
Tri-heart pendant
Vile Striker and Cryo Driver because: status effects.
Wolver Set (in the process of upgrading to Dusker)
Mighty Defender
Ascended Calibur
Fiery Pepperbox
I don't use the gun all that much, but it's useful for hosing down crowds of monsters at times.
Shield: left finger.
Weapon: middle finger.
I beat all the monsters with just two fingers, some with only the middle finger.
Best gameplay modifier I made was to drop 500CE on 2 extra weapon slots; for the people who haven't done this yet, it's really worth it.
I currently run with:
Dread Venom med dmg beasts (synergises nicely with shiver against teleporting wolvers)
Ash of Agni Max CTR
Shivermist Buster Max CTR
Hail Driver low dmg gremlins (been ragecrafting cryos trying to get ctr/dmg v construct since gremlin uv is completely useless)
Before the patch I was on my way to getting a DA and Argent Peacemaker for FSC runs (swapout with DVS & Ash); alas, that plan got wrecked along with my method of paying for them (sitting here with 6x 4* lvl 10 items... sigh).
i perfer my dread venom striker
