I play SK on a mac, through Kongregate. Since Apple had their Java update removing the internet plugin, I am not able to play the game anymore. I've tried downloading the Java version from Oracle, and the download from the applet runs fine. But when I go to launch the game, after all the "applet authorizations", the SK window pops up, appears and disappears repeatedly, and then stops, the applet and application quitting. I've tried to revert to the older version of java, reinstalling Java 7, restarting my computer, throwing it down the stairs (not really), but it wouldn't fix the problem. HELP ME PLEASE!!! I love this game too much!!
Game won't launch!!!
I have exactly the same issue I have my original account on Armor Games so that doesn't work and I have also tried to do it through Kongregate and here. I have no idea what to do!!! Going to have to try to get this working on an old PC. Oh and with your issue with Kongregate just go to the play page here at the Spiral Knights Site and download it with the link. Then you can play it. I have an Armor Games account so it automatically logs me in when I get on. So I have no idea what my username and password is for that. (ugh!) I am just using an alt in the meantime.
In this case you will need to re-enable the Java 6 web plugin on to continue playing Spiral Knights on your Mac. This can be accomplished by following these steps.
- Instal Java 6 on your system using this Apple Update.
- Re-enable the web plug-in by following these steps from Apple.
- Restart your computer.
I have been having a problem with launching SK through Steam on Windows. Every time I launch the game it automatically close once it starts running. Every game on my Steam account and they have been no sign of being hacked. (Thank goodness) But I got my account along with some DLCs. I don't know if I should re-install SK and delete the Steam shortcut on it. I don't know if it will affect my merged account.
What about not being able to open from steam on a Mac? I've got java to run SK from the site but not on steam, other games launch from steam. Spiral knights updates and validates but once it is done the window just closes. I then try to open the game again, it shows up on dock and then closes. it then opens again on the dock then closes.
I could do that but there are several other programs that I use on this computer that NEED Java 7. So am I just stuck or can you fix it?
I had a problem with Mac after doing an update. I can't revert back to Java 6 so I went ahead and have Java 8.
make sure you got your Java updated to the latest version, after that go to the link bellow and click on the "download" button. Follow the on screen directions. It should set up a Java's patches that SK needs in order to run. Having Java 7 or 8 doesn't really matter in this case. But if you want you can uninstall Java 8 using the terminal, then reinstalling J7.
You need to install Java Developer Kit, not Java Runtime Environment.
I discovered that even though the web client for Spiral Knights runs by installing the standard Java Runtime Environment, the steam client will not run unless you install the Java Developer Kit. Java 6 or Java 1.6 is not required. It successfully ran on OS X 10.10 for me just now using Java Developer Kit 8 (1.8).
So basically java runtime environment bad - java developer kit good.

I usually login thru my facebook account and launch the game thru the "Play" button on the main page, and the plugin usually works, now it just says"Plugin is not supported"and I have re-downloaded every single plugin I have,it still wont work, pls help :(
I use standalone and the launcher just spouts chinese characters and 'appbase' at me. I can't understand that level of chinese, nor can I copy/paste it.
google chrome stopped supporting java
so if youre using that find a new browser
I am having the same issue but through steam. The information i can give you about this issue is that is not a Java issue, nor is it an SK issue since i can open through the site with no issues, i have had to resort to playing on windows :(
