Interesting, okay so I'll lower my expectations to just a high CTR (with hopes of being super lucky in getting a "mythical" very high.)
Also, I'd be running it off ME on days when I don't play so much (workdays mostly), so this is something I'm chasing over a looong period of time.

But my question still remains.
What is the add value of 1 point in CTR?

I suppose I could level a calibur to lvl 10 (or just wait for my ascended to be lvl 10), one to lvl 5 and compare them to a level 1 to see the rate change in charging between none to medium... But I'm not sure if I could extrapolate that out to maxiumum CTR's levels?

I'm not sure if there's been an exact calculation of the difference between the levels of CTR, but whatever it is, it's noticeable. I wish Three Rings would relay some of this data to us.

I'm wondering if there would be any macro recorders that would show how long a keypress is. Unfortunately, I haven't used one of these in a long time and have no recommendations on this. (Since a lot seem to be ad-ware etc. and I wouldn't want you to get a computer problem in the name of "science")

I also think that a macro that showed time would only show stuff around the mouse buttons being pressed....

Perhaps someone else who knows can chime in.

Edit: Silly me, attacks can also be initiated with a mouseclick... maybe a macro would be useful for this since you could technically replay it and get the exact length you would need to hold for a charge at a given level for a given weapon. Though it still stands that I can't recommend a good safe easy macro recorder for this.

What if you slave the Z button to the CTRL button and then press prt screen at the start of the charge and at the finish?

Perhaps someone could record

Perhaps someone could record a video with FRAPS and then load it up into a video editing program and count how many frames the animation takes and use that as the metric. I could probably do this.

EDIT: Or just use the timer like lost4now said. :P

With my own testing (audio + video @ 30fps) it seems that its .25 sec per rank (deviation between my measurements are between 1-2 frames aka deviation of +- 1/15th sec ).

I've tested 0, mid, high, very high.

Think I'm going to stop there since rank 0 ---> rank 1 is the same as rank 1---> rank 2, etc (same rate of reduction, about 1/4 of a second).

So it seems that max CTR would be 1.5sec reduction time since bombs (haze, not sure about other bombs) are 3 sec charge time.

The charge time starts at the end of your swing also, so attack speed can lower the time to charge your weapon but it's pretty insignificant. What weapon were you using lost4now? I tested brandishes up to High CTR and got the same results of 250ms per rank.

A whole second between medium vs maximum is fairly large.
250ms is arguable, but it could determine on whether you successfully block an attack or not.

It's interesting that at each level, the % of charge time reduced increases as you go up each level.
On the same level 10 weapons, assuming a 3 second charge*, a CTR maximum reduces charge time by 14.3% compared to ultra's charge time, where else a CTR high reduces charge time by 10% over medium's charge time. (V.high over high UV vs low UV over none)

For bombs, this would be more important since your DPS increases a lot by getting a very high CTR UV.

But for the calibur line, I suppose a CTR UV of high is an adequate goal!

*varies from weapon to weapon since guns/swords attack into a charge, or you can shield into a charge

I was using Haze bomb. As for the calculations, I only calculated the time you hold down the button and when the charge is fully available for release.
