Is this something I should try to draw?

I used to draw a little bit, but I didn't really like how stuff usually turned out. Best I was able to muster was this (http://i.imgur.com/Js8FoEM.jpg) after a lot of sketching, some help from a friend, and a lot of time ironing out mistakes in GIMP 2.

But I kinda want to try again sometime, and I want to expand on the completely random design I had in that drawing. Y'know how some artists draw dragons with armored plates? How about a really spiky dragon with spikes that can mesh together to form flat, not-so-painful plates? Sorta like that drawing, except with some differences here and there.

Thoughts?

I was also considering drawing my Knight with a more "draconic humanoid" vibe, so the thought already crossed my mind.

Good for a start.

Take art classes. Constantly draw. Draw whenever you can. Whenever you have free time. Keep sketchbooks, scrap paper. Write ideas down. Let the creative side of your brain soar. With art you have to have creativity, or you won't get anywhere. Take a creative writing class, too!
