Whan using weapons with different damage types

Normal, Elemental, Piercing and Shadow.

How much damage is added if the monster is weak to that attack?
How much damage is lost if the monster is strong to that attack?

Is there any hard numbers on this?

You can enable damage numbers

You can enable damage numbers in Options in-game. It won't show you the monster's total HP, but the numbers will be gray if the monster is resistant to your damage type or will be bolded and orange if the monster is weak to it.

Faust (Jelly, Gremlin)
Grand Flourish (Beast, Fiend)

It seems like the modifier is

It seems like the modifier is somewhere from 75% to 90% boost for monsters that are weak to an attack type. I think it's setup so that a Maximum damage UV is less powerful than a super effective damage type. All I know about the penalty of strong monsters is that it's over over 50%.

Weaknesses add roughly 25%

Weaknesses add roughly 25% damage.
Resistances take away roughly 75% damage. (Harsh.)

So a 100-damage Elemental hit would deal something around 125 damage to a Zombie but around 25 damage to a Wolver or Gremlin.

Gigafreak's numbers sound

Gigafreak's numbers sound about right from what I've seen. It pays to have the right weapon for the enemy you're facing.

At the same depth, my level 10 Khorovod deals less damage to a slime/jelly (weak against shadow) than my level 3 Silent Nightblade. But the Silent Nightblade deals less damage to kats and zombies (resistant to shadow) than a same level Khorovod.

(It's fortunate that the Brandish line Silent Nightblade is part of deals dual normal/special damage; it means you don't lose as much damage against a resistant monster, compared to a single damage type weapon.)
