Why does Iron Slug "need" a buff? Compared to Pulsars and Catalyzers, the Normal counterparts don't do status but do VERY SLIGHTLY more damage than the elmntl/shdw counterpart on charge attacks, which can be EASILY made up by the status. So why are tons of threads created to give a very slight damage buff to the IS's charge attack? I don't see why you would choose IS for killing turrets when you could be Polaris/Nova/Volt charging? Get a Callahan, kill Fiends, and watch them cry while stunned. Easy as that. So tell me why the IS "needs" a buff.
Why?
Nick did admit he wanted to buff the iron slug but his plan wasn't possible at the time.
We did get a slight damage buff, but....
Anyways, my point is a developer admitted the gun lacked power, and that's something you don't see often so we need to play along them and insist on it :v
@TraEVILaith
1. Either for looks, noob play, or a ranged Sudarska.
2. Callahan doesn't do this.
@Little-Juances
The Cautery Sword lacks power and not even joke threads about the Cautery Sword appear NOWADAYS. Not even the devs admit the Cautery Sword's failure.
@Utrex-Two
Why?
@All
None of you "Sonic Heroes" answered the question I asked.
It needs a buff in order to make it useful. Every weapon that doesnt suck has a niche that it excels in, itself alone. (Ex: Blitz and Vana, Alvhemers and Zombie swarms, Supernova and crowdds, biohazard and jellies, flourished and devilities, GF and gremlins, brandishes charges on everything, Nitronome and jellies.
Those examples show situations the guns do well in, and each specitic one is unique to each weapon.
Iron slug? Name one situation that it and only it excels in.
Turrets? Umbra/Elemental alchemers own.
Constructs? Elemental weapons outdps it.
Beasts? Callahan/Blitz
Fiends? Callahan/Blitz once again.
Gremlins? Callahan is better because of stun, and umbra.
Jellies? Umbra/Bio
Undead? Everything but umbra/sent
Utility? Callahan has same animation, but better cause of stun
Lockdown? Normal defense is the most prominent.
IS needs more damage, because it currently is useless compared to callahan. Other guns woth status vs non status (alchemers) have a damage divide to compensate. (Storm gives up dmg for shock, for example). Polaris vs Supernova? Supernova has higher dmg for expanded shots. Biohazard vs aNeut, same. Same even for swords.
IS either needs its own unique status, or a damage buff (probably a 10% increase).
Since my explanations suck, if you can name a situation that the iron slug is #1 in, that would be great. Maybe it should do shadow dmg? Needs moar shadow weapons.
I'm confused as to what you're debating now...
You just admitted that there are few practical uses for an Iron Slug... and you're wondering why it needs a buff?
Thank you for actually reading my post instead of skimming it over, Voza-Il.
Of course, I would gladly choose Polaris over Supernova because 1) Shock and 2) I wouldn't be using it against T3 Gremlins and Wolvers. I would choose Biohazard over Neutraliazer because 1) Poison, 2) It gives me an excuse to not need an Umbra or a Sentenza and partly 3) for Shadow damage that LD players don't commonly have and because Biohazard+Vortex in Slime/Gremlin arenas is as deadly as a party of Shard Squaders. I COULD see someone choosing Neutralizer over Biohazard because he/she wants to use it against Undeads or possibly a few Gorgos/Greavers, or even for Vana.
Now I would choose Callahan over IS for 1) stun and 2) piercing damage that deals more damage to those pesky Devilites. What could I choose IS over Callahan for? The loss of stun, and Normal damage. ISing Slimes and Constructs would be quite useful as I could do a few shots and back away instead of having to worry about dodging. But players want a reason to use IS on Slimes and Constructs over spamming walls of bullets with a Polaris. So what do they do? They ask for a buff. Lots of buffs. Even suggestions of a Grim Gun that I can't seem to find @™, and you even want it.
So IS IS a lot more useful than Neutralizer or Supernova, yet nobody asks for buffs of ANY OTHER NORMAL DAMAGE WEAPON.
@Travevelliath
Do I really need to spell it out for you because you still can't pass preschool? Or are you TRYING to be a forum troll?
Iron Slug needs a buff because it's a bad weapon compared to most other weapons.
I hope this clarifies.
Volcanic Pepperbox is a bad weapon compared to other weapons. Why doesn't anyone ask for that to be buffed?
In clockworks it gives hitstun to monsters. Ex in a 2-3 person party i can switch shoot almost any monster 2 valiance shots/1 slug shot and it will make them flinch/stop their attack. Potentially getting them stun locked in place until death.
The only thing is... there are so many other viable guns for that situation. Not to mention swords... Just charge a levi attack and you'll off a turret much quicker then with the slug.
I'd wish for either it be like a cone shaped shot like < with a damage scale from the point of fire, maybe it actually having a big spash at the end comparable to like a small nitronome...
or if you want to think WAY outside the box, just turn it into a grenade launcher with a displayable detonation counter so people can even see when to dodge it in LD.
It's fun, but it'd def at the bottom of the 5* gun food chain as it is
Anything IS can do, any other normal damage gun can do better. Miles better. Is that enough reason for a buff?
Could you explain to me what you are trying to say in your main post? Even though I passed preschool with flying colours and read your post three times at varying speeds, I cannot really understand what you are trying to say.
Also, don't you dare disrespect volcanic pepperbox. You just aren't using it correctly if you think it is weak.
~Etha
Volcanic Pepperbox may be a bad weapon compared to some other weapons. (Actually, pretty much just Blitz Needle).
Iron Slug is bad compared to every other weapon.
Iron Slug is great... at the beginning of Tier 2 that is. Being at the end of the Alchemy chain clearly doesn't help if its not really "Tier 3 ready".
The Slug, like several other weapons, lose their ability to knock down or even inflict pain animations the deeper you go. If this is a problem, then the solution is to tweak the pain resistances of the monsters and/or the pain output of weapons.
[Insert zOMG moar nerfs/buffs reactions here]
One thing the Slug can do bypass a mecha knight shield on the first shot -every time- but if it can't knock them down then the second shot will probably be blocked like every other gun. Wasted potential if you ask me, as if it could reliably flinch lock mechas then it could easily be a practical gun for use in Decon Zones. My own experiences tell me the primary offenders that the Slug should excel but fail on are zombies, retrodes and mecha knights. Remember that zombies and retrodes used to be a lot more dangerous in the past, so its plausible pain resistance was overlooked when they got the nerf.
Edit: Valiance is very good at hitting a mecha on the first shot too, but the point still stands that the Slug has wasted potential due to knockdown resistance.
What are you suppose to use an Iron Slug for?
What else can do the job of the Iron Slug?
At least Pulsars give you AOE control and Catalyzers give you high damage AOE killing power.
