I'm tired of whacking minerals

This is one of those things that looks great on paper, and is no problem the 1st 200 thousand times you do it, but i'm officially tired of whacking 5-8 mineral patches 3 times each to find the biggest mineral....stage after stage after stage after stage after stage after stage.

At this point i'd just prefer to walk into a mineral patch room and for them to just be laying on the ground and go pick up the one that i want. No more whack whack whack. Whack whack whack. It's repetitive and unnecessary.

I hope we can get this changed.

Or maybe just make it so we have to hit them once? That way there's still a little surprise from finding a large crystal.

Right now, crystal rooms make me sad to be a bomber.

Hmm, I hadn't thought about how irritating it would be to be straight bomber. I usually carry my trusty Silversix for the express purpose of bushwhacking and mining, as that is primarily what it is good for (aside from zombies).

I used to carry an antigua

I used to carry an antigua only for that reason. But nitro + bomber armor does the job, too, if you're angry enough. As a "pure bomber" I'd vote for making those things scream in agony when they are hit instead of that unsatisfying puffing sound. No real game-mechanics change needed ;).

Or put them behind doors with triggers. I don't bother to open those any more... someone will just hit the switch a second before the bomb goes off and then complain about me closing it again :P

Gradual hit reduction

If you're mining just for the crowns, you might consider skipping them like I do — they're only worth 30 crowns at most. Unless you're involved in gate crafting, my idea here is the easiest it can get.

For the gate crafters, the feeling of mining through crystals is fun at first. Instead of letting that getting tedious, what if mid-range gear took them out in two hits, and high-tier took one? Higher-level gear would feel even more powerful and the faster mining would feel like an achievement.

I'm pretty sick of it, too. Gate construction is completely pointless, but for some reason I feel like I should still be collecting minerals. It's a chore.

The absolute least that should be done is to make the last hit of a weapon combo break a mineral node.

+1 Vote

I love the idea of making better gear take fewer hits. Id go so far as to make the 0 star starter gear take more hits :-)

An alternative would be to have a mode where you "automatically assist in gate crafting" you don't even see the mining nodes, and every floor you complete just multiplies the efforts of other peoples gems.

I'm open to suggestions

I would like to just skip the minerals, but if i'm in a party i feel like a jerk when i do since we share minerals :/

Also, i think it's one of those ideas that was definitely good and novel and added to the game, but then the game grows past. Maybe they could make you whack minerals in t1, do something a lil less intensive in t2, and something even less so in t3.

Anyhow, i think it was a good idea and useful for the ambience of "this is the world of clockworks". But we've seen a lot of things like this in other mmo's. Like in WoW where you had to be at a certain alter or something like that to do scrollwork or enchantment. Great for ambience and world building, but as the game matured it just slowed things down and was more a nuisance than a novelty. And it was eventually changed for a less bulky system. It served it's purpose, it become perhaps counter productive, they updated it.

to piggy back on this point

It annoys. I don't want to spend my entire knightly career running around with varying sizes of gaudy minerals glued? i guess, to my back. Its a bit unsightly. My knight looks 10 times better without an oddly angular yet blobular piece of mineral jelly stuck on him at all times.

They should just be laying there, and i run over a big one and its collected. perhaps another bubble at the bottom like the vitapod or top like the potions, i don't need to see it, in every stage of every run forever and ever and ever. i get it.

I would reckon harvesting

I would reckon harvesting mineral for crystal energy instead of crowns. I rather have 10ce by the end of the session than few crowns. I wrote a post about this to rebalance energy in the game.

Right now, crystal rooms make me sad to be a bomber.

Use Crystal Bombs. They charge fast and if you place them directly into a crystal three shards will hit and insta-pop it. It'll also probably hit other crystals in the room as well.

This same tactic applies to enemies, which is why I love the bomb so much.

My only problem with minerals is that if a player with a huge crystal ragequits in a danger room the crystal will be left behind and block the other people's path, probably killing them. Make the damn things passthrough or even just let the player take it with them. It's not like players are going to enter a dungeon, pick up a mineral crystal and simply leave with it.
