Does EV work in on shadow lair mobs? What about the Unknown passage?

Shadow Lair mobs are regular enemies so why not?

If it's not nailed to the floor, EV will work on it.

Yes, even that obscenely large enemy you're about to mention.

Hey Zeddy, quick question. Are mobs that are immune to knockback immune to the Vortex? Talking about things like Soul Jelly.

I think they're just immune to knocks in general. I mean, knocks exist inwards, outwards, to a player, from a player, and to the left of the player with the Wrench Wand charge.

Actually, knockback is issued using a vector. Vector consists of magnitude and direction. The direction is calculated using the origin, which is always the source of the damage: Player, monster, pulsar shot, blast bomb and vortex centre, catalyzer sticky. The wrench wand movement is not caused by knockback, it's part of "combo movement". Combo movement is a predefined shifting of the player's relative position and orientation when certain weapons attacks are used.
That's me explaining the technical workings of it all, but it's very obvious without me needing to say all that.

What I was referring to is their resistance to certain movement methods though: there are different types of knockback resistance. For example, Trojans can't be shieldbumped very far, regardless of whether you bump their shield or their back, and they're not affected very much by most knockback inflicting weapons, but hitting them with expanded Pulsar shots causes them to slip along the floor effortlessly.

@Hexzyle i think trojan

@Hexzyle
i think trojan reacting differently to different sources of knockback is more of a bug rather than having a feature known as "knockback resistance"...

Yeah, I think the pulsar knockback works through some hard "set velocity to..." script, rather than how most knockback works: impacting a force on the mob and letting the mob's weight resist it.
I wonder why though.

weight, the whole other can

They may have tried "weight" based programming and found the program a little difficult to effectively handle and make edits to. Or maybe Java bugged up anytime they attempted it.

There's also the probability that any attempts at "weight" actually wound up based off defenses assigned to monsters, which wouldn't be fair to players attempting to (be hipsters) use alternate weapons that could be used as utility in spite of less-than-extraordinary damage. And thus the assignment of fixed kb and kd against particular targets, allowing for more wonder for players to ask "what if" with...

that, and a ton of extra code that gives devs money for necessary work. Not bad when the game can rake in $$$

I honestly don't know, but I'll make an effort to bring electron vortex next time I see a soul jelly.

Do you know of any less rare mobs that are mobile yet have complete knockback resistance?

Hey zeddy, spoiler alert, it doesn't work on lord vanaduke.

For that matter, I'm not sure it even works on Royal Jelly.
