a little video showcasing how i like to pass that puppy of evilness and death.
obviously there are more than 3 ways, but i like these cause anybody can do it (no need for max damage polaris and stuff)
edit: I derped out, here's the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lEIeTyeVc-o&feature=youtu.be

1. It's actually a ROCKET puppy. I only specify because there's like 20 Red Rovers in FSC and only ONE Rocket Puppy.
2. Method 2 is an old trick all vets know. It's been possible since....idk, probably since beta for all I know. It's what I do every single time.

Method 3 was kinda obvious (I mean you ARE invisible after all), but kudos to finding out you could dash past it and not be seen. I wouldn't have risked it.

Also you forgot: if you shock the slags via vial or polaris, they can break the ghost blocks for you, this traveling clockwise through the first two rooms, then back to the west without ever going south of the rocket puppy.

These are some of my favourites:

  • Bringing a troika, get the attention of the puppy with vials or a gunshot. Continously slash down rockets while your teammates clear the room.
  • Spam Nitro.
  • From the south side, uneash Volcanic Pepperbox on the puppy, instantly killing it. Then just pass. Might require some amount of damage bonus depending on party size.
  • Shoot down the puppy using any gun while under Angelic Aura.
  • Curse vial and dodge until he's dead.
  • Backfire Barrier to simply dash past.
  • Traveling clockwise with alchemer ricochets.

Volcanic Pepperbox can kill it with a charge attack and then a regular attack even in a 4-man party with just a medium damage bonus, I think.
Iron Slug and Supernova also work very well if you time the shots to interrupt it. Alternatively you can bring a Neutralizer and just travel clockwise around the puppy using the clustered slags as explosive fuel for opening the unreachable ghost block. You pretty much kill all the slags by doing so as well.

Remember you can shoot the puppy inbetween rockets and block rockets with your shield. I don't know about how Owlite holds up, but I use APS and it's pretty effective.

most people refer it to puppy room, but i will edit it.
"Method 2 is an old trick all vets know. It's been possible since....idk, probably since beta for all I know. It's what I do every single time."
this video isn't for vets, as all "veterans" run through fsc with their eyes closed
"Method 3 was kinda obvious (I mean you ARE invisible after all)"
yeah, i just felt like doing it
"Also you forgot: if you shock the slags via vial or polaris, they can break the ghost blocks for you, this traveling clockwise through the first two rooms, then back to the west without ever going south of the rocket puppy."

yep i know, read the whole post or video description plox <3

@zedzed
WHOA TROIKA
im gonna make a troika just to troll that puppy.

@hex
never knew about the neutralizer :O
about killing/interrupting it, it requires a certain amount of damage and defense. my methods would work no matter what weapons you have (use a vial to aggro him) ^_^
the only reason i do these methods is because i started doing fsc when i was in 3* :o

I meant it's an old trick that has already been documented.

Also I find any strategy that requires killing the rocket puppy to be pointless, since it respawns anyway, and the other methods only take one hit or no hits at all.

Going to FSC in 3* is just asking for trouble.

@zed wait what? you can attack the missiles directly?!

Oh man, I remember when the most common way of getting past that rocket puppy was to use Polaris Charge Shots or Shock Vials. That was back when a lot of people first visited FSC in an Ash Tail set, swinging around an Avenger.

Nice strategy.

Also, nice chaos set!

@batabii On a relevant note, you can also kill howletzer heads too. I just spam Argent on them and they usually die before getting to me (They have some invincibility, but I haven't figured that out yet), but you might be able to troika it to.

Watch the Nitro video. See how I blow up the rocket with it? You can't really do it with guns, since it acts kind of like grass and you can't really hit the rocket directly with bullets, but bombs and swords will work. Heavy swords recommended so you don't get caught in the blast.

Well, if you guys had the same luck as me and my guildmate, you wouldnt uave to worry about the rocket puppy. Instead, you would be wondering what to do with all the flying hearts after your hp already getw to 100%.

(Love puppy spawn!!)

But tbh, supernova os the way to go. Easiest anyways.

You can also blow the rockets up with vials. Back in the day when I didn't know the tricks mentioned here in this thread, I just stood in the rocket puppy's crosshairs and spammed AP while throwing a vial whenever a rocket was about to come out (or you can actually wait until you see the rocket coming at you but in my mind i felt that the blast of the rocket will hurt the puppy, lol).

Oh yeah, I forgot about vials.

As far as I'm aware, rocket blasts do indeed hurt the puppy.

@dmatter
Yes, I already knew that, and zeddy's been talking about it for ages too.

@ookiwe
Yeah but vials also work on normal gun puppy/polyp/howlitzer shots too. I assumed the rockets were a projectile, not a separate "enemy" that can take damage.

The rockets are interesting. They seem to be a projectile with specialized coding for detecting attacks. For one thing, you don't see damage numbers when attacking them. For another, you can't attack T1 rockets. I'm not sure you can attack T2 rockets either.

Well there you go, that explains why all these years I never realized they were destructible. After all, who sees a missile coming at them and thinks "hmmm maybe if I stab it" rather than "OH ♥♥♥♥ GET OUT OF THE WAY"?

You can bust up Wheels with water globs and vials too, it's pretty amusing to boot.
