Thing is, Iron Slug or Callahan? I find this part confusing.

I have Big Angry Bomb and I find it useful. I wanna be a gun/bomber hybrid. I use my Big Angry Bomb to ward enemies away from the node. Then I whip out my WRH and attack. Thing is, a magnus gun would sound good.

Questions:

1. Iron Slug or Callahan

2. Will these guns be effective?

3. Comment below, but I recommend PMing me..

Callahan is moderately respectable. Iron Slug is a poop. Less people resist piercing damage than normal damage and stun is overall a great status in LD.

recon?

Recon works well for gun+bomb, while guardian works better for sword+bomb combos.

1. IF you had to choose between just those two, Callahan just because it has a status. Pulsar, Valiance, or status alchemer lines would work better though.

2. No, not really. Normal and Piercing are just the most popular defenses in lockdown, and the guns keep still, which makes it easier to kill you.

For my gomber loadouts, I like having at least a mist bomb, then swap between offensive bomb / gun for about 2-3 seconds before laying down another mist:

ex:
Mist > Nitrome > Nitrome > Mist...
Mist > Alchemer > Alchemer > Alchemer > Alchemer > Mist ...

Thanks for the help.

@ Krabob: Thanks!

@ Seiran: I use Recon mostly. Most of the time, odd thing is I don't see as much Skolvers. I see many players equip Chaos equipment.

Exactly. Basically everybody has normal defence, some even have Ancient Plate. Skolver is no longer more than 50% as it looks to me.

Yeah, people use chaos more

Yeah, people use chaos more which favors hybrid sets. They will continue to do this untill OOO does something else that makes no sense, like make the DMG High on each wolver piece.

@OP
I would not recommend callahan in the least. It is really not a gun for anyone but an asi max striker. I asked dr bugos, (fastest gunner i have seen, and she said the callahan was too slow even with asi max (I asked about switch shooting callahan).

Your best gun sidearm for a recon bomber gunner hybrid is a pulsar/antigua line.

Pulsar can act as general coverage, while antigua can act as precision counterattacking. Both have great mobility, so either one would be optimal. Alchemers would be one tier down in terms of use because of the crappy clip. But switch shooting would solve this.

Also, if you capture a video of the BAB knocking some idiot into shock pad/freeze pad/fire, resulting in their death (must not be staged), I will mail you 5k cr for the luls.

@Voza

That'd be because switch shooting a gun that makes you stand still is suicide :P

@ Usevnwhateverthe*(%#yournameis: You'll live.

@ Topic: Callahan will admittedly deal more damage though because mostly every armor has normal resistance of some kind, and the stun's apparently pretty nice. Iron Slug's still fun to use though.

@Krakob Well my twisted logic

@Krakob

Well my twisted logic hen i thought of switch shooting callahans was that if the enemy gets stunnes, they have no chance of getting past a wall of magnus bullets. But now that I think of it....derpy idea.

If you're juggling an Iron

If you're juggling an Iron Slug and Callahan, in a 1v1 situation the stop-and-shoot animation is no different than someone using a Gran Faust or Divine Avenger doing the same thing. It's not suicide as long as you're not just spamming the trigger hoping for a lucky Calla-stun.

However, most LD matches aren't going to offer you 1v1 situations every single time, so you'd do best to invest in a heavy amount of ASI if you're intending to do this, alongside of some conservative booster management - if you shirk on either the set's likely not going to be very fun.

@Voza and everyone talking about switch shooting magnus

As someone who can double-switch (aka use the same gun forever at maximum switch-shoot speed), it doesn't work too well.

I pretty much only use recon seriously, so I run at max ASI as well. Aside from not being able to walk while shooting, the part I dislike the most about it is that you can't turn to adjust your shots on moving enemies. Callahan's streaming fire rate is still slow enough for a striker to still boost towards you at least two tiles while you're in cooldown even if they're stunned.

The reason why heavy swords can get away with what they do is that they at least have knockback and a wide range, so even if you face slightly the wrong direction, you can still land a hit. With Magnus, you have to deal with a comparably small width and no knockback.

And while I'm complaining about magnus and knockback, I'd like to note that the punch gun lines have an enviable 1.2+ tile knockback per bullet. Why doesn't the magnus line have this? :/
