In a more positive
In a more positive light:
Since the game at release will look different from now, the company wants the information that is out there at release to match the release version of the game.
Making sure that the only people who see the pre-release state of the game know that it is pre-release is a big plus.
Making sure that no search engine will cache or index these "stale" pages is a big deal.
There is a big problem with people seeing early, "pre-release" information about a game, and using that to base their view/opinion/expectations of the game. The NDA prevents that.

The main reason behind NDA's (non-discolsure agreements) to protect intellectual property. In the easiest rational, to stop another company from using the concepts in Spiral Knights and the beating Three Rings to the release.
Another is to block the flow of information to the media, making it so that if a gaming journalist is to get an invite they are contractually obligated not not say anything. Therefore stopping any press but most especially any bad press that could result from reviewing an incomplete game.
