That's why I asked around and people told me he more likely was trolling because he had a history of doing so. I want to give him the benefit of the doubt and say he wasn't, but his actions were a little weird.

Sorry if I came off as rude. Like what Zempress said, I got into a bidding war with someone who wanted to stay anonymous. I later found out he never really planned on paying up. Since we're dealing with public forum auctions, nobody should be able to hide from their bids. To me, it's harrassment on your part and to the bidders if one person decides to cause mischef and puts up false offers. As long as you have proof, I think it's a good idea letting people know who to look out for.

I have nothing against you personally but am acting cautiously due to word of mouth from others.
