Swords are a personal preference, largely. Personally, I go with DA, Gran Faust, and Final Flourish, as the gives me one each of elemental, shadow, and piercing respectively. If you want faster swords, the Brandish line offers both elemental and shadow as well. Dread Venom Striker and the Leviathan are pretty decent all-round swords if you don't want to burn 3 slots on just sharp pointy objects. And the flourish line can also do status effects if you want that. All of this depends on whether you want a specific or generic load out, too. Mine is generic, works pretty well anywhere. Others may like something specific for, say, Vanaduke.
I think that about covers it. I'm ignoring the Fang of Vog, 'cause I don't have one.

...Right. Umm. Anyway.
Calibur --> Leviathan series is a good all-purpose weapon. Its charged attack can land up to three hits on a cornered, heavy, immobile, or frozen enemy. (Over 150 dmg each on the Royal Jelly for a total of 450+ per charged attack. Wham.)
The Flourish series is quick enough to catch Gremlins and hits hard on Beasts, both of which your Avenger can't hurt very much.
Brandish --> Nightblade --> Acheron is a mid-speed weapon that can cover Shadow damage for you to destroy pesky Gremlins and Slimes.
