I hopped from Haven to Haven trying to find people that actually like the game enough to craft more than the "basic Knight needs" gear (read: Chaos/Wolver/Sealed Sword/Brandish/Polaris/Antigua), and have an Arcade run where we'd use Normal-only weapons just to have some fun, but no one was interested ;-;

I'll be in the corner cutting my wrists with my Dread Venom Striker and healing the wounds with my Cautery Sword.

(If anyone from the forums actually wants to do silly runs like that, don't hesitate to send me a friend request. Just write something in it so I don't ignore it :p)

welcome to the club. although I am crafting a GF, I tend to solve my problems without going to the obvious way. like, I use WHB for lesser beasts packs and DBB for greater ones. I used to use sentenza for gremlins but now I have a problem with them again. also valkyrie for fiends and salamander for conteract fire weakness. "I need a piercing helmet! oh, look, mercurial." and it was before BSs gave MSI med. I still need a piercing armor though, don't want merc but merc demo armor. any suggestions besides skolver?
ah, if you want to do a normal weapons run with, there will be a lot of flashy white things on your screen. no, supernova. I know what you were thinking.

Piercing without being Skolver?

Well, there's the Deadly Virulisk for Normal/Piercing with Poison resist and damage bonus vs slimes, or Dragon Scale for Elemental/Piercing with Fire and Poison resists. You also have Royal Jelly for Normal/Piercing + Stun/Sleep (because there's loads of mobs that deal the sleep status, amirite) or Ice Queen for extra Piercing.

Let's not forget Ironmight with loads of Normal Defense and decent Piercing, though you get a penalty to ASI. And sleep, but again, sleep is so troublesome, huh? Oh right, there's also the Radiant Silvermail with Shadow and Pierce defense, poison and curse resists and a Med damage bonus on fiends :3 Justifier for gunners (Or hybrids, if you're going half justifier half something else).

Oh, and good ol' Azure Guardian, the 5* Cobalt stuff we get free recipes for from the missions :3

Yea, I wouldn't mind a Supernova in the team, though I'd rather go around with my Volcanic Pepperbox. Because Fire :3

My issue is that people think using unconventional setups entitles them to play badly.

I think I'll go with justifier since guns are my main weapon type. we need piercing bomber armor OOO, I want to start shardbombing soon!

Shard bombs don't do piercing damage anymore.

We also need Shadow stuff for bombers. Kind of underwhelming to have at least one set which each defense for swordies and gunners but not bombers :/ I'm hoping against hope that they're working on Pierce/Shadow bomber sets to come out with that new boss we'll get soo-- err... eventually.

@Arkate: Then what damage does the Deadly Splinter Bomb and the Scintillating Sun Shards do? They are shard bombs.

Yes they are shard bombs, but they are not Shard bombs.

The only "Basic knight needs"

The only "Basic knight needs" I have are Skolver set (because I wanted to upgrade from Azure set finally), AP + Sentneza (For gremlins and jellies), and a Fasut currently in the works (I suck badly with heavy weapons except my WMH).

Plus, I do love SK enough to craft a lot of stuff. Check my inventory if you're interested.

@Arkate:

*cough* DEADLY SPLINTER BOMB *cough* and *cough* SCINTILLATING SUN SHARDS *cough*

arkate, I said armor. armor. and I will have a SSS and I intend to use it effectivly on fiends, so I'm fairly sure it does piercing.

@Tweeter

I'm not saying there's people that don't craft more than just the stuff that's normally used in LD/Vana, I know a few people that have tons of items (me included). My issue with this is that even if we have these items and want to use them for fun, we have to do so between ourselves or in solo runs because people from random parties just leave or kick us as soon as they notice that we don't have the stuff we "need" (and I'm using "need" very loosely here) to go on a Firestorm Citadel run. (I dunno about Arcade run parties, I usually solo those so I can use whatever gear I gosh darn want to use :P).

In arcade runs, people don't mind. When I use my Valiance, Volcanic Pepperbox, Biohazard people don't mind at all. A course I'm almost always the leader of the party, so they can't kick me. But they also don't leave, so I guess there's that.

I would love to!

I do like to do these kinds of runs. It's actually really fun to use DR in PvE. I also like to use my levi (best charge in the world). Although my armor wouldn't quite make it, I'm pretty sure I have a sinister suit around my arsenal somewhere.

Normal weapons are often overlooked

My leviathan blade is my primary sword whenever I trek onto new territory. The rocket hammer is probably my favorite weapon because of the dash, but my leviathan blade will always be my most reliable weapon.

Honestly, I want to make my dread venom striker a thing (I seem to only get good UV's on normal swords), as that thing has an increased attack speed of very high, and it is so fun to use, but I can't find a good situation where it is actually helpful.

What would be fun would be equipping the first weapons you ever worked with and fell in love with for a run with a party of similar people. My magma driver and leviathan blade skills are pretty good last time I checked.

The first sword I gave into was the Calibur for it's AoE specialty, the next was Brandish for the possible Lineages AND status inflicting family. They're pretty good swords for me, until I upgraded my Brandish for an Iceburst, which I frequently used, rather than the Calibur(a Tempered Calibur now).

I still whip around my Tempered Calibur, although instead of 'Tempered' I renamed it Ex. Because it's my Ex-Sword, and it's a play on words for Excalibur, King Arthur's blade.

Don't worry, though, Arilys.

"Water... gun"

@Hero-Of-Cheese

I don't get into any episodes when using the Valiance, even for FSC runs. It's a surprisingly good gun, and I've been using it a lot more than I use my alchemers or AP/Sentenza :p And lots of people use it in LD too so I guess that helps give it a "good" image.

@Hearthstone

I'm not worried about people that have not so common gear and use it every now and then. It just bugs me when others that don't consider crafting those pieces often think that whoever has them isn't a good player. I know I'm not an amazing player (I can't solo half of the danger missions yet lol), but I've recently done a Vana run with the Almirian Crusader set (with the Hot Blooded BS Perk :p), a Dread Venom Striker, Cold Iron Vanquisher, Neutralizer and Volcanic Pepperbox and I only needed to use my emergency revive at the boss because I walked into the shadow fire.

Given, the boss fight took quite a while longer because the Volcanic Pepperbox doesn't deal nearly as much damage as a Blitz, but it's still doable. And fun.

Also Neutralizer charges on mobs of Slag Walkers... <3
