Two dozen is a lot.
I'm surely not the only one who can't wait for this update.
"two dozen" new guns?!!¿¡
I don't think they'll make a 2star of the needle and pepperbox line.
And the alternate line for winter grave is completely guesswork.
Either way, still a lot of new stuff

I mostly agree with Zeddy, excluding the 2* Callahan, 3* Argent Peacemaker, 3* Sentenza, and 2* Needle Shot.
Those just seem to be unnecessary and the products of a slightly jaded outlook on weapon updates :3
I'm pretty sure there are going to be more solidly new guns. Especially because the announcement stated: "...guns like the Phantamos, Gilded..."
I already know what the guns are going to be, and I can reassure you that many of those are correct. Also, it's not truly 24 new guns, if you don't count the 4* and sometimes 3* versions. You'll need to find out some others that you didn't think about.
After the shock of the announcement wore off, I was starting to think something completely different, but in the end similar in that it's one new gun.
The "bomb update" brought us New Shards, which is either 24 weapons, one weapon, or something in between, depending on how you count them.
@Xephyris
Outside of Operation Crimson Hammer weapons, Valiance, and Winmillion; OOO has never introduced weapons without alternate lines. It seems more likely for a new weapon to have alternates than for it not to. Whether or not it'll be piercing damage is something we can bicker about, though. Normal with no status seems equally likely.
@Thunderhawks
Whelp, didn't expect to hit the mark with all of them.
I suppose seperating Antigua wouldn't make too much sense since you can't ragecraft token items. However, you would still be able to do punch rolls on the stock Antigua and then upcraft according to which family bonus you get on it.
My view may or may not be excessively coloured by the shardtastrophe, which, yes, introduced 22 'new' weapons but removed the one weapon a bomber needed.
Let's try again:
5* Shadow Callahan, slight chance of moderate Curse but the regular attacks will only be minor Curse (Phantamos)
4* and 5* piercing Antigua, medium fiend bonus (Guilded Griffin)
3*, 4*, 5* Shadow Blitz Needle (Grim Repeater)
3*, 4*, 5* alternate line for Winter Grave, normal, higher damage
4*, 5* Winter Grave, shadow, freeze
4*, 5* alternate line for Winter Grave, piercing, some status
4*, 5* alternate line for Winter Grave, elemental, some status
3*, 4*, 5* new, unannounced weapon line
4*, 5* alternate to new, unannounced weapon line, piercing, some status
4*, 5* alternate to new, unannounced weapon line, elemental, some status
4*, 5* alternate to new, unannounced weapon line, shadow, some status
No need to tell me right now how close I am. That'd be spoiler territory.

Sounds about right.
And you know what? This sounds a lot of fun. Shadow Blitz Needle would see autoguns getting a lot more usage outside of FSC. Shadow Callahan could be pretty great for PvP. Piercing antigua would be fantastic for taking out fiends. And two new lines of guns in general just expands the options.
2013, the year gunners made everybody else obsolete. I mean honestly, only horrible players don't already believe gunners are by far the best 'class' but after this update anyone denying it will just be straight up trolling. At least short of the ominously ambiguous 'reworks' actually balancing them (lol)
I gave OOO too much credit.
I thought you learnt your lesson after the Shard Bomb update.

In PvP, sure, that might be true. What a joke to suggest that for PvE though, where enemies actively try to avoid bullets, block bullets, teleport out of the way of bullets, etc. Swords are significantly better than guns in PvE for the most part.
I'm disappointed with what they appear to be... but I'm still hopeful for balance/mechanic changes.
@Khamsin
Right, because everyone uses swords against vanaduke. Him alone consisutes about 40%-60% of total playtime of all vanguards probably. And lets be honest, a max dmg and max ctr blitz will rip apart everything in FSC, even constructs and jellies
"Him alone consisutes about 40%-60% of total playtime of all vanguards probably."
Lol. Maybe if you're using an AP against him.
I'm gonna guess some of you used SpiralSpy to check out the new guns.
Anyone wanna tell me how they saw the new guns? I would love to see them.
this is good, but i think it will be harder to craft since they changed the crafting system. the orbs are more rare than ce. even though i already finished all the missions, i would still like the crafting to be the way it was since i have more than 3k of unused ce.
dragon hunter, you can use ce to buy orbs, so they are less rare than ce, if you want to put it that way. you find them in the clockworks occasionally and you can but them at the price of crafting we are used to from the depot.
i checked spiral spy with the preview client :\ i didnt saw the new guns., lol
And what do these guns look like?
Look at the site, it explains how to use it. We can't post screenshots about these stuff.
What about projectile weapons? like a flamethrower?
We saw that huge thread everybody kept commenting on. even the devs might have thought a flamethrower is badass.
Speculation: Calling it right now. Some of the guns will be at brinks for the new boss tokens of that new water themed mission.
Nick confirmed the presence of dihydrogen monoxide in a previous post.
Depends on what you consider the "best". For me it's being able to dispatch many mobs quickly and efficiently so for me that is basically spamming 5* sword charge attacks from the brandish line.
Guns have always been the safer less damage dealing route.
So if you consider being the best safer and taking less risk then you would be correct.
It means 8 new guns at most. Each 5* gun needs at least a 3* and a 4* gun leading up to them.
Let's make predictions, actually.
2*, 3* and 4* precursor to Iron Slug
2*, 3*, 4* and 5* shadow Callahan, possibly with slight chance of moderate curse (Phantamos)
2* Callahan
4* and 5* piercing Antigua. (Gilded Griffin.)
3* Argent Peacemaker
3* Sentenza
3*, 4* and 5* shadow autogun (Grim Repeater)
2* Needle Shot, to seperate the needle lines from pepperbox and grim repeater
2*, 3*, 4* and 5* Winter Grave (possibly an actually new gun. I assume shadow damage and freeze.)
2*, 3*, 4* and 5* alternate line for Winter Grave, probably piercing damage.
Total guns: 24
Total actually new guns: 1
