Small sword-type dagger-boomerang, enchasing 3-slash combo with low range - upslash, front fence and then armthrow to unleash a short boomerang form attack. When charged, it will travel to the cursor position when charge unleased. Depending on the cursor position, the Daggermerang might circle in place for further attack. When holding the cursor on yourself, it will orbit around your position when charging, shielding you from melee attack. You can also pick it up when flying, butyou cannot use it or switch weapons unless you reget it. What do you think?
Daggermerang
Don'th eath tha' meringue, it'sh phull ough daggerzsh! Beware, lesth it busth up yer teaph!
I agree with Battlegrinder here. Not every one uses a cursor; some peops use a joystick or even buttons/keys to aim, and the game does not draw a cursor when not actively using the pointer. Those poor souls have it bad enough needing extra keys to backpedal or sidestep whilst attacking with directional weapons, without telling them there's a whole weapon they just can't use properly unless they figure out where to put more keys for controlling targeting distance quickly.
I do like the idea of a sword whose last hit involves throwing it for a vaguely gun-like effect, though. Taking this tangent and running off on it, this "throwing sword" could have the charge attack of a bomb, combining a class-blurring hybrid weapon with a distinct "disposable weapon" character: functionally and code-wise just a heavier, slower Spur that turns into a bomb when charged, but with very memorable animations!
Imagine some one like Superman "manually arming" RPG-7 munitions by using them as javelins. Now, imagine instead that they're exploding spears designed to be used that way by knights, as well as stuck into the ground, booster rocket shooting uselessly but sparklily up into the air until the head explodes. The spike is designed for implanting as a bomb, though of course knights learned to use it as a sword analogue, whereafter the clockworks were never the same.
Sounds like a new spur, and given how underused that weapon is, I don't see much potential for this one. Plus, the charge attack sounds like it would be too hard to program and too hard to control.
