How about and 'AFK' button?

To keep things simple....
-i think we should remove the logging off due to idleness thing. (it gets really annoying when you solo a run and something comes up and you have to afk)
-replace it with an AFK button. (If used during mid-game other players may continue without you (or choose to kick you)) also you become invisible to enemies (esp useful when soloing) however you shouldnt be able to spam this because it should not allow you to move and you should still be able to take damage (so it cant be spammed just before an enemy attacks)

No thanks.

exploitable. A player can easily use this to not have to walk a long distance to the party button OR get locked out of the party button area and thus not be able to move on.
You can also use /away or /afk in chat to announce you are afk but you still get kicked I believe.

Waffle has pointed out the biggest flaw in this suggestion.

"also you become invisible to enemies"

That kinda makes Shadow Cloak useless.

Without the idle timer, I'll purposedly load alts on the server and never close them properly to overload it and cast the curse of lag upon you.

You can already do this if you use a macro. Dumb argument.

The macro consumes 1% of processor power. I have an old dual core. It matters.

ANYWAYS, I think this is an ok idea, just remove the invisibility aspect, and only make it work while solo, sort of like a pause button.

Seerusly? Why don't we just go ahead and %U*$ the in-game economy in the fudge factory again while we're at it. That's exactly what will happen if OOO actually went through with this. You think ce prices are high now, just wait.

It's like Juances said, if we get an afk button, what's going to stop people from creating alts and idling just to get loot? Absolutely nothing. More loot being collected will drive up the prices of E exponentially until we're at 100k for 100 E. Why do you think they took loot drops out of TF2 through idleness? Until that update, EVERYONE was rich and that's not how the game's supposed to work. Now the game's designed so that you actually have to play or else you wont get loot drops.
So -1 to this overall suggestion.

What the **** are you talking about? How can you get loot if you're idle in your own instance?

You must be new to this concept.
If you have more than one computer, (which surprisingly, a lot of people do apparently) all you'd have to do is setup so that you're playing on the main and letting the alt idle. You simply protect your alt as best as possible (using a SoL if needed) and then collect the loot in the room on both accounts before moving on. Pretty simple.
In TF2, you didn't need an alt. You just let your account sit in a designated idle server overnight & loot is put in your account every 30 min or so. Once Valve realized that the idle setting was being exploited (REALLY exploited) they changed it completely.
This is why idleness is now very strict. Loot is no longer distributed to all party members after one collects it & you're disconnected after 10 min of idleness. Pretty sure that's a strong hint from the devs that this suggestion is terrible and will not be implemented.

Okay, THAT I'm okay with. (sorry, I skimmed your comment) However, if this guy thinks that this should be put with a group party, then it'd definitely be abused.

Not to mention how much easier it'd make breaking levels. Only in parties, though.

You don't get logged off until fifteen minutes of idleness.

All your comments are

All your comments are appreciated (esp the harsh ones P;) and i do believe that this may have flaws so give your ideas too.

@ Waffle & Sky,if they use this to skip long walking distances they will miss out on cr and when i mean players can move on i mean it like how dc'd players still move on when other players step on the button. (of course if you dont wanna carry them you can kick them but thats why a cloak is needed so that when you are kicked while AFK monsters dont swarm you (or when you are soloing either)).
The cloak cant outdo maskeraith cuz all its meant to do is be like a pause button that makes monsters ignore you. You cant move or do anything in the meantime and you can still get hurt by mistaken slags, wheels etc. when you uncloak monsters will be on you in an instance and the game will resume as normal
@Nepetath i dont really see how this will make a difference with alts; i still carry my alts through vana. (plz enlighten me :3)

Perhaps using the Disconnect

Perhaps using the Disconnect function but apply it to AFK. Disconnect could also be abused for the same purpose as well as joining an existing group. The loot even though hidden from sight are obtainable just stepping near the area. Or so I have observed.

May I compare this to to another game. There is a teleport ability and there is a cool down time to how many times this can be used. About 10 minutes. We could apply this to the afk but the player must be careful when using this and not accidentally say they are back but they are still afk. Then this can't be abused as much.

SK really needs a better loot dropping system. Perhaps like TF2 allow drops to those that fight and less to those that only move around and non for afkers?

People are always going to find a way to abuse the system. There isn't much you can do about that.

Also if one has made a fighting action then they are not allow to suddenly afk: cooldown time of 30 secs to 1 min?. Perhaps make a person leave the fighting area if not in a team boss like room and if in boss room stand in the corner.

Although i just realised something. Have OOO really considered ANY of the suggestions on the forums? I highly doubt any of these will be implemented.

@ DaGunner: That's a funny

@ DaGunner: That's a funny thought. Hmm It makes me wonder was there ever an instance in SK that a bot was used to play the game for the player?

@Frostrike: I'm new to the forums but I think you may have a point it may take a long time till OOO make changes based on the Suggestion Section. Perhaps this was made for us to have some hope in this getting through and have people show pros and cons so they don't have to think. Also to perhaps shut us up by having this section in the first place. We say what we want to say. The burden is then lifted but where the burden goes, who knows? Maybe it's in a ditch called Suggestion somewhere or someone actually picked it up. We will never know until OOO does something with it.

But all isn't lost. We build our skills in debating and we gain new knowledge and ideas that may benefit us in some point in the future.

@Bitsbee: *One Word* LoL

well...

I think we should just have a pause button for solo runs. It won't allow anyone to join you either, so we wouldn't have to worry about the game unpausing on us. My parents have a tendency to make3 me do something or stop playing in the middle of a solo boss fight, so that will be a great idea.
As for the afk button, no. I agree with several of the guys here that it can be heavily abused, so no.
