Have you ever considered...

That it may be your own internet?

Unfortunately, no.

I myself, and other players, all from various parts of the world noticed the same things as Darkcub.
Neither of us changed anything as far as Internet stuff goes.

The hamsters got sick.

For those who don't understand it's cause OOO is very ecolo-responsible so they have hamster-turning-in-their-wheel powered server.

It's taking a toll on my playstyle

I've gone down to a wobbly 2-bar connection after a stable 3-bar connection. It has been there since the Dangerous Promo ended.

EDIT: My final run tonight, I had a 3-bar connection again, and it didn't go back down. I don't know why it decided to suddenly come back, however temporary, on my final arcade run of the night. Are the servers being responsive again, or was I just getting relatively lucky with my connection?

inb4 Paweu post, reminding us how good are the OOO servers and that he isn't lagging, therefore, it's your problem, ignoring the several people that are in problems.

PS: I don't really know what I'm talking about :P

You first need to go to whois 184.72.0.0 (One of AMAZON's IPs which will give you contact details) and report any problems there. Ping game.spiralknights.com at the time of the connection issues in order to obtain the IP, changes in IP (as the IP is a dynamic adress) may cause sudden lag spikes.
Also, I'd like to see a traceroute from your computer to the game server. That might point to where your problems lie. You could be getting huge lag spikes due to your ISP, which has nothing to do with the severs.

Since the dangerous promo, my connenction has been 1-2 bars. It is normally 2-3 bars in haven, and 3-4 bars in missions or in the clockworks. It's very frustrating when I see this happen, because it takes a toll on my gameplay since I'm used to smoother gameplay. I can cope, it just takes longer to do everything.

It's off and on. I think that 000 probably reduced the bandwidth or something, because I mostly only notice during times of heavier traffic.

Oh god, don't tell me that after so long it still didn't get flash through your mind that you living in Asia will always result in a poor connection? Otherwise I have no idea why would you even make such a post because yes, as long as there is even one player not having problems, it's not the servers at fault.

I don't think I've ever seen any concrete proof from lagging users that their lag is OOO's fault.

Is there any concrete proof it isn't? Surely everyone can't have the same experiences, even if they're all in the same region as the server...

Might just be a placebo effect, but I did notice some extra problems after the Sprite update.

Exactly. I'm still awaiting that traceroute screenshot...

There's a solid way to prove it. But no-one's bothered to show the evidence.

Great !! You have 2 Bars while I have 1 bar !! Wanna compare my connection with yours ? Latency hurts!! T___T Even in LD. Please make us play better OOO....

You can...

  • Test your ping to other things.
  • Test your connection speed.
  • Ask other players how their connection is at the moment.
  • See if your issue is actually your ping by just saying something in chat and seeing how fast you see the message display. A message is always sent to the server before it's sent to the players, including yourself to make it go through language filters and stuff.

I'm not really good with networks and stuff but these are pretty basic things you can test to see where the issue lies.

Update: 8:00 am This morning

Update: 8:00 am This morning I noticed I had a steady 4 bars in haven. However I believe this is only because it's a very inactive time of day

@Krakob

Simply pinging the server is not enough. Say your connection has a latency of 800. You can't then blame that latency on Three Rings because you have no way of knowing why the message is taking so long. That's why you need to use tracerouting.

I'm no expert either Krakob, but I'm not a nub at these things either:

My internet works fine as always outside of SK, my ISP didn't change anything.
Nothing changed at my end, and I don't suspect OOO suddenly moved their servers without telling.

As others have said it correlates with how crowded the server is.
It's mostly notable in LD (timing being off is easily noticed there) and on the US server.

Ping/Trace

so for fun, went ahead and tried to ping game.spiralknights.com and then the traceroute. Can't reach either :/ I have no latency issues.

By the way, the delay isn't

By the way, the delay isn't the connection to the Amazon hosted servers, it's the servers themselves getting overloaded (Did they reduce the number of servers rented out? Or is there a down/up rate cap installed in software on the servers now?). What seems to be happening is after mysterious x number of people connect to one server, additional people get degraded / spun often into a loop with getting force logged off and logging back in.

Source: Europe servers worked better than US servers for a time... (Switching to the farther server service fixed it...)
